Exciting career growth opportunity (Solution Architect) in the latest technologies and best-in-class Human Capital Management ERP (Workday). Ideal candidate will have 10+ years of software design, development and implementation of home grown or package solutions (ERPs/SaaS) and demonstrated working experience of software frameworks such as Microsoft .NET or Java.

Meijer is seeking a Solution Architect for our Corporate Systems agile train. The Solution Architect is a senior level technical and functional expert, partnering with business and IT stakeholders at all levels to identify architectural solution options. This Solution Architect position is responsible for using solution architecture practices and techniques to deliver measurable business outcomes in a large-scale, complex organization.
 

What You’ll be Doing (Responsibilities):

  • Evaluates architectural options and defines overall architecture of the HR and Payroll systems.

  • Determines major elements and subsystems and defines interfaces as well as architectural runway.

  • Defines functional and non-functional requirements including performance monitoring, alerting and code management and ensuring alignment with technology best practices and SLAs.

  • Providing subject matter expertise and technical consulting support on either vendor or internal applications and interfaces.

  • Mentoring and coaching other members of the team.

  • Designs, codes, tests, and implements, dashboarding and analytical assets; develops system documentation according to SAFe Agile principles and industry standards.

  • Drives engagement with ITS Security and Infrastructure teams to ensure secure development and deployment of solutions.

  • Interfacing with the Product Owner and IT partners at the Program level to define and estimate features for agile teams.

  • Conducts industry research, facilitates new product and vendor evaluations, and assists in vendor selection.

  • Assists in production support and maintenance of applications as needed.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s and 5 years post degree of ITS experience is required. (or equivalent combination)

  • Any SAFe certification or training.

  • Expect 10+ years of software design, development and implementation of home grown or package solutions (ERPs/SaaS).

  • Must have demonstrated working experience of software frameworks such as Microsoft .NET or Java

  • Quickly comprehends the functions and capabilities of new technology.

  • Current working knowledge with multiple, diverse technical configurations, Programming languages, microservices and container-based application deployment and APIs.

  • Prior HR Payroll ERP implementation experience. (Workday preferred)

    • Workday functional knowledge and experience in modules:  HCM, Integrations, and Payroll.

    • Working knowledge of Workday tool set:  Studio, EIB, Core Connector, Report Writer, XSLT, Oxygen; and ability to review and triage code.

    • Understand Workday data structures and where data is retrieved from.

  • Experience leading and managing large enterprise initiatives.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • Experience with structured design, development and implementation of new and established computing architectures.

  • Technical team leadership experience.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.

  • Ability to understand the long-term (“big picture”) and short-term perspectives of situations.
