Job Function Summary

As the head of Americas Payroll, you will be responsible for hands-on management of full-cycle processing of US multi-state payroll, and own the expatriate shadow payroll process. In addition the Head of Americas Payroll will also review and approve International payrolls for the EMEA and APAC regions. The ideal candidate will serve as the subject matter expert regarding laws and regulations pertaining to payroll guidelines and ensure that Millennium remains in compliance with all guidelines.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle US payroll processing utilizing the Workday payroll module. Manage Canadian payroll utilizing the Cloudpay platform

  • Partner with Finance, and other internal stakeholders to collect and process information each pay period including deferred compensation payouts, referral bonuses, taxable benefits and 401k

  • Act as strategic advisor on payroll tax and compliance topics to business stakeholders and colleagues within Human Resources

  • Review and approve monthly international payrolls

  • Oversee internal/external payroll audits and compliance reporting including 401(k) and Workers Compensation

  • Work with International payroll managers to ensure expat shadow payroll is properly administrated

  • Administrate the firm’s 401k plan in conjunction with the record-keeper and plan advisor

  • Manage the Workday time & attendance module

  • Liaise with Finance to ensure payroll information is accurately transmitted to the general ledger system

  • Partner with the payroll vendor to ensure timely and accurate payment of all taxes

  • Manage the W-2 process with the vendor including collection of additional earnings and verifying accuracy and timeliness of tax document delivery

  • Coordinate with the benefits team on 1095-C process

  • Work with our auditors to provide requested documentation and explanation about the process

  • Generate various ad-hoc and routine reports as required as well as special projects

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • 15+ years of multi-state payroll management experience in a complex business environment

  • Bachelor’s degree, concentration in accounting or other business related field preferred

  • Payroll experience in US, Canada, APAC and EMEA regions

  • Strong understanding of full cycle payroll

  • Knowledge of IRS and multi-state labor and tax laws

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with the Workday payroll module or other large-scale payroll system is preferred

  • Certified payroll professional preferred

  • Knowledge of accounting standards and laws related to payroll regulations

  • Good team player with a strong willingness to participate and help others

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate results under tight deadlines.

  • Highly effective communicator, verbal and written, with teammates and various levels of leadership as well as external parties
