The Global Benefits Manager will oversee the strategy, design, and administration of Moderna’s benefits programs across EMEA, APAC, and Canada. Reporting to the Director, Global Benefits, this role plays a key part in ensuring that Moderna’s benefits offerings are competitive, compliant with regional regulations, and aligned with our commitment to employee well-being.

This position requires deep Workday benefits functionality expertise, including leading integrations, implementations, and enhancements. The role also involves managing RFP processes, selecting benefits vendors, and ensuring smooth transitions during vendor onboarding and system updates.

As part of our Human Resources team, you will be responsible for designing benefits programs tailored to Moderna’s diverse, international workforce and leveraging AI tools such as ChatGPT to enhance employee communication and benefits accessibility.

Here's What You’ll Do:

Your key responsibilities will be:

Global Benefits Strategy and Regional Focus

  • Develop and implement a global benefits strategy focused on EMEA, APAC, and Canada, ensuring programs are competitive, equitable, and aligned with Moderna’s overall objectives.

  • Stay ahead of regional trends, regulatory requirements, and market practices to tailor benefits offerings to local needs.

  • Benchmark benefits across regions to maintain Moderna’s competitive position as an employer of choice.

  • Collaborate with regional HR leaders to ensure benefits programs align with local cultures, employee expectations, and business goals.

Leave Administration

  • Oversee and administer statutory and company-sponsored leave programs across EMEA, APAC, and Canada, including maternity, paternity, sick leave, enhanced parental leave, and caregiving leave.

  • Ensure compliance with local and regional regulations governing statutory leave entitlements.

  • Partner with HR teams to develop streamlined leave administration processes and improve the employee experience.

  • Provide training and guidance to managers and employees on leave policies.

  • Analyze leave utilization trends to identify opportunities for program improvements.

Workday Integration and Implementation

  • Lead the integration and optimization of Workday benefits modules to enhance benefits administration.

  • Collaborate with IT, HRIS, and external vendors to support seamless data integrations between Workday and other systems.

  • Drive enhancements and updates to Workday benefits functionality to support evolving business and regulatory needs.

  • Lead configuration testing and troubleshooting to ensure data accuracy and system reliability.

Your responsibilities will also include:

RFPs and Vendor Implementation

  • Manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) process to select benefits vendors and services globally.

  • Oversee the onboarding and transition of new vendors, ensuring seamless integration with existing benefits systems.

  • Evaluate vendors based on business needs, cost-effectiveness, and service quality.

AI and ChatGPT Integration

  • Leverage AI tools, including ChatGPT, to enhance employee communication, simplifying access to benefits information and FAQs.

  • Develop AI-driven analytics to assess benefits utilization trends and employee needs, using insights to refine program design.

  • Train HR team members on AI-powered tools to improve employee experience and optimize workflows.

Well-Being Programs

  • Champion Moderna’s global well-being commitment, developing programs that support physical, mental, and financial health.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver region-specific well-being initiatives, such as mental health support, financial literacy programs, and flexible work policies.

Annual Benefits Renewals and Compliance

  • Lead benefits renewals for EMEA, APAC, and Canada, negotiating plan designs, costs, and contracts.

  • Ensure compliance with local laws and global alignment in benefits administration.

  • Partner with Legal and Procurement teams to review and finalize contracts.

Vendor and Broker Relationships

  • Manage relationships with global brokers and regional vendors, ensuring service quality and efficiency.

  • Drive cost-effectiveness and process improvements through strategic vendor and broker management.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Partner with HR Business Partners, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure the seamless execution of global benefits programs.

  • Develop communication strategies to educate employees about their benefits, leave options, and well-being programs.

  • Train HR teams and leaders on benefits policies and Workday system functionalities.

Here's What You’ll Need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in global benefits and leave management with expertise in EMEA, APAC, and Canadian practices.

  • Strong knowledge of regional regulations, market trends, and cultural nuances in benefits, well-being programs, and leave administration.

  • Experience with Workday Benefits, including system integrations, implementations, and configuration.

  • Proven ability to lead RFP processes and manage vendor transitions and implementations.

  • Proficiency in managing large-scale projects with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • HR certifications such as GPHR, SPHR, or CEBS.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and regions.

  • Familiarity with global benefits platforms and advanced HR technologies.
