This role is responsible for managing benefits, leaves, WC and retirement functions within EBS NA as well as dotted line responsibility for the EBS Compensation team members physically located in NA. This position will effectively lead, execute, and operationalize organizational strategy, communicated from the Total Rewards COEs. The role is responsible for executing the Total Rewards strategy with a standardized set of processes, tools, systems and key controls inside EBS, working with the HR Corporate Total Rewards leaders. This person will be responsible for all aspects of Total Rewards program management for EBS, including process design with the COE Total Rewards team, reporting, administration, training and communication as well as comprehensive case management and coordination of the return-to-work program for both occupational and non-occupational leaves and will develop and implement processes and procedures that will ensure consistent program administration.

What will you do:

  • Closely partner with the Director of Benefits in the COE to collaborate on key annual activities and execution of strategic programs as well as budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, invoice processing needs.

  • Monitor the EBS benefits team performance to ensure compliance, manage and execute benefits performance improvement and efficiency of service activities. Monitor team metrics and trends.

  • Ensure Benefits Operations policies, procedures and controls are in place and maintained and monitored to ensure compliance with all internal and external needs and requirements. Ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws, including, but not limited to ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ACA, etc.  Responsible for the timely and accurate completion and submission of all compliance filings.

  • Partner with HR Communications to coordinate and provide inputs into the annual benefits enrollment and other benefits-related communications and campaigns. 

  • Provide management support to resolve customer requested escalations and act as a benefits subject matter expert (SME) for special or complex inquiries.

  • Manage benefits vendor relationships and performance in accordance with agreed-upon service levels and budget expectations.  

  • Work across HR to plan, scope and implement benefits related projects as approved through governance and HR planning process.

  • Act as project lead and individual contributor for key team events and programs.

  • Maintain and develop staff through ongoing training and coaching and manage team performance through goal planning, providing regular feedback, providing growth opportunities, and facilitating performance conversations.

  • Identify, monitor and manage metrics as they relate to the overall team operation and drive efficiencies and accuracy in the work performed

  • Foster a team environment to drive ownership of work and encourage team involvement and support around process improvement ideas.

  • Collaborate with the Centers of Excellence (COEs) for Benefits to align on EBS and COE requirements for projects, annual processes, new plans/vendors, and considerations for discussions and planning sessions.

  • Lead and/or participate in the execution of programs designed to promote productivity, wellness, and limit the impact of disabilities.

  • Partner in the execution and facilitation of education and communications tools to promote understanding of workers’ compensation, leave of absence and ADA accommodations processes.

  • Partner with HR Operations team to ensure the interfaces between Mosaic and TPAs provide the required information to maintain accurate record keeping and program compliance.

  • Manage the interactive process as required under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Determine reasonability of accommodation requests while ensuring compliance with processes, procedures, and federal and state legal requirements.

  • Collaborate with the Environmental Health & Safety efforts to promote best practices and standards in the designated areas.

  • Own the execution of the Workers’ Compensation and Leave of Absence programs for Mosaic’s North American salaried and hourly employees and ensure consistent application of established processes and procedures.

  • Ensure the WC Leader understands, interprets, applies, and communicates provisions of federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations (including, but not limited to, ERISA, FMLA, USERRA, STD/LTD, ADA, HIPAA and workers’ compensation) and operates our program within the applicable guidelines.

  • Ensure we partner with all vendors to aggressively manage workers’ compensation and escalated leave of absence events and ensure integration with other disability/leave programs. 

  • Maintain and manage metrics to drive improved results and communications. Collaborate with Risk Management, HR and Labor Relations resources to evaluate Workers Compensation effectiveness and improvement opportunities.

  • Help support the NA Compensation employee involvement in the EBS NA HR team and serve as a resource for the EBS Compensation Manager in navigating NA specific resolutions.

What will you need:

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • 7+ years of progressive responsibility in Human Resources with experience and exposure in various aspects

  • Understanding and knowledge of the leaves of absence process

  • In-depth and extensive working knowledge of US benefits and benefits-related processes, including health and welfare and/ or 401(k) and DB retirement programs

  • Exposure to and familiarity with wellness campaigns and advocacy

  • Experience with base pay program design, including salary structures, merit guidelines and compliance

  • Compensation reporting, analytics and effectiveness measurements

  • Strong collaborator and influencer

  • Strong organizational skills and a strong attention to detail

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Superior critical thinking and decision-making skills

  • Strong business acumen of progressive responsibility in corporate benefits administration, workers’ compensation claims, litigated claims management and/or overall leave management, compensation strategies and programs preferred

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Project skills

Preferred Skills:

  • CEBS or CBP designation preferred

  • Lean or Six Sigma certification preferred

  • SPHR or PHR preferred

  • Hands-on experience with benefits and leaves software systems
