The HR Workday team focuses on delivering and facilitating strategic HR projects within Workday HCM. The Workday Administrator, in partnership with the HR Workday team, department HR partners, and key stakeholders across the County to ensure that Workday HCM impactfully supports organizational goals and objectives, houses complete and accurate data, and is maintained and easy-to-use for all County employees.

The Role

As the Workday Administrator, you will be part of the HR Workday team and focus on improving the efficiency of our HR organization through the use of technology and business processes. 

In partnership with the HR Workday Team you will be responsible for identifying, designing, and implementing Workday solutions and best in breed HR solutions to support organizational goals and objectives. Your ability to navigate HR technology and stay on-top of day-to-day maintenance and data integrity will make you an important partner to our variety of key stakeholders throughout the County. 

You will stay abreast of changing pertinent HR regulations, as well as emerging technical solutions, in order to analyze the potential impacts to business processes. You pride yourself on your solution oriented and flexible problem-solving behavior, which will be crucial in developing process improvement opportunities. You’ll provide technical guidance and apply a wide range of solutions for supporting the HCM functional area. 

You’ll cultivate relationships with business partners across the organization to resolve complex issues and customer requests. You are proactive, highly motivated, and have an aptitude for creativity and critical thinking. You showcase the ability to take ownership and drive positive change in collaboration with key stakeholders. You have excellent technical and communication skills while working with internal stakeholders to understand their needs in order to administer and enhance processes and systems.


  • Leads HCM administration providing recommendations to subject matter experts on best practices related to Workday functionality 

  • Configure, test, and deploy Workday solutions to optimize business processes in assigned functional area(s)  

  • Lead system maintenance and upkeep of Workday HCM. This may include regular audits of system data, maintaining alerts, notifications, and other general system configuration.

  • Review business procedures/workflows to ensure system features are being fully utilized and identify Workday features that may improve efficiency and remove administrative effort from end users.

  • Provides technical support to identify and troubleshoot system inefficiencies and issues. 

  • Act as a point of contact for users to research, troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.

  • Assesses vendor enhancements and releases to implement configuration and process changes while minimizing impact on administrators and end-users

  • Partner with business users to recommend supplemental solutions leveraging Workday.

  • Create business process documents, process flows, and decision-making documents

  • Ensure data and system integrity

  • Assists with the  development and maintenance of Workday training materials, standard operating procedures, and provides user support services.

  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned

To Qualify

 Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (in lieu of education equivalent years of practical experience will be considered) 

  • At least four (4) years of relevant experience in Workday 

  • Experience working with (ERP) Human Resources software.

  • Experience solving configuration issues through root-cause analysis, deep understanding of cross-stream and down-stream impacts is preferred

  • Knowledge of capturing and documenting requirements and business rules for determining best technological solutions

  • Experience managing multiple projects and demonstrated knowledge of project management tools and techniques

  • Advanced communications skills, both oral and written

  • Knowledge and skill analyzing and creating design and programming specifications for custom extracts based on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates.   • Experience working with Workday HCM and have basic proficiency with calculated fields. Workday Pro HCM certification is a plus. 

  • Business Analyst Certifications – ECBA, CCBA, CBAP, or CBATL certifications 

  • HR Certifications – S/PHR, SHRM-CP/SCP, IPMA-CP/SCP, etc…
