Job Description

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Training and Quality Assurance Specialist OR Sr. Training and Quality Assurance Specialist. This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Quality Assurance Manager. The position will be in Reno or Las Vegas, Nevada.

The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions: three universities, a state college, three community colleges and a research institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees.

The Specialist provides Workday Training and Quality Assurance services for Finance, Payroll and Human Capital Management (HCM). Conducts analysis needed, designs modules, identifies proper methodologies, delivers training, and implements change management. Responsible for planning, managing, and executing the QA process. The Specialist will function as a member of the NSHE Workday Change Management/Training Team and NSHE Testing Group. The Specialist will collaborate with other Trainers, Testing Groups and the NSHE Workday team to recommend and ensure proper testing frameworks, training methodologies, and communication.   

SALARY GRADE: C (starting salary range is approximately $60,000 to $80,000 for the Training and Quality Assurance Specialist OR $80,000 to $95,000 for the Senior Training and Quality Assurance Specialist; commensurate with education, experience, and training.) Benefits package includes health, dental, vision, life, and retirement benefits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must have earned:

Training and Quality Assurance Specialist: A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with two (2) years of directly applicable experience and progressively responsible training and quality assurance experience. Alternatively, four (4) years of direct training experience or related field and/or experience in a large corporation or university environment where a combination of equivalent skills and knowledge were acquired will be considered. 

Background and experience in higher education and/or expertise for a large enterprise or university is preferred.

Senior Training and Quality Assurance Specialist: A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with four (4) years of directly applicable experience and progressively responsible training and quality assurance experience. Alternatively, eight (8) years of direct training experience or related field and/or experience in a large corporation or university environment where a combination of equivalent skills and knowledge were acquired will be considered.

 

Background and experience in higher education and/or expertise for a large enterprise or university is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Successful candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities. It is recommended that applicants for this position address each of the following items in the letter of application:

The Training and Quality Assurance Specialist must possess the following:

•    Demonstrated experience with organizing and developing training and testing programs to meet specific needs. 
•    Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the user community, foster change, overcome resistance, and positively promote organizational objectives. 
•    Assist in the development of training materials, such as handbooks and job aids.
•    Evaluate and make recommendations on training methodology, training materials and training mode of delivery.
•    Basic data analysis skills for evaluating training and QA outcomes.
•    Consult with SMEs, Change Management and Training groups regarding appropriate training and testing design and implementation. 
•    Understanding of different types of testing (functional, performance, regression, etc.).
•    Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in quality assurance and software testing
•    Understanding of how to log and manage defects.
•    High level of attention to detail to identify and document Training and Testing requirements accurately.
•    Aptitude for communicating technical information in an informative and educational format.
•    Utilize strong presentation and facilitation skills and computer technology to deliver training and testing results. 
•    Possess effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to support the Workday governance structure and to effectively interact with staff and diverse stakeholders. 

The Senior Training and Quality Assurance Specialist must also possess the following:
•    Development of training materials, such as handbooks and job aids.
•    Provides advanced support to users of Workday.
•    Plan and organize priorities for a small team. 
•    Should have Workday fundamentals in two or more core areas (Finance, HCM, Payroll) 
•    Should have knowledge in Named Support Contact Workday Community and Workday Learning Center functionality.
•    Knowledge in organizing and maintaining Content Management System (CMS) and Learning Management System (LMS)
•    Comprehensive knowledge of designing, implementing, and managing testing frameworks
•    Ability to resolve conflicts and issues that arise during the training and testing process effectively.
•    Develop and enforce QA standards and processes.
•    Analyze QA data and provide actionable insights.
•    Oversee the management of QA tools and software.
•    Ability to develop and execute strategic plans for testing and training phases.
•    Advanced ability to analyze and document customer needs and requirements.
•    Present findings and reports to executive leadership.
•    Mentor and support Training and Quality Assurance Specialists.
•    Demonstrates expertise in the field, influencing strategic decisions. Leads complex projects and drives innovation in training and QA practices.

The incumbent must have the ability and interest to learn new techniques, tools, and methodologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following areas of responsibility:

Training Design and Delivery
o    Designs training programs for various end users/audiences, and learning styles
o  Contributes to the Design of Facilitation Guides for use by NSHE and Institutional Trainers and other campus experts, as defined
o     Determine the appropriate delivery methodology for the training content 
o     Develop outlines, scripts, and materials to organize and enhance the training
o     Assesses and evaluates current plans and seeks to identify any gaps
o    Adequately prepares self to present as an expert resource
o    Delivers classroom, virtual, and individual training 
o    Ensures technology is available and functional for on-line or recorded delivery
o    Develops job aids to assist users on accomplishing various tasks in Workday
o    Administers feedback surveys to gauge effectiveness of training and to improve training delivery

Systems Testing 
o    Responsible for planning, managing, and executing the QA process.
o    Develop overall test plans, strategies, and test cases to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
o    Coordinate with different teams to define testing objectives, requirements, and timelines.
o    Ensure that testing activities are aligned with project schedules and priorities.
o    Prepare comprehensive testing reports that provide insights and recommendations for further action.
o    Take necessary actions to mitigate risks and meet testing milestones.
o    Communicate testing-related risks and potential impacts to stakeholders and project management.

Support and Administration
o    Acts as a Training Coordinator for the Workday trainings by managing, ordering, and coordinating Training Credits 
o    Acts as a liaison to Workday regarding Community and Learning Center concerns.
o    Provides ongoing support to Business Analysts as configurations are updated and communication with campus is warranted
o    Participates in discussions about new functionality and develops training and documentation to align with configuration changes.
o    Collaborates with Business Analysts and campus partners to ensure that issues are resolved in an efficient and complete manner
o    Provides recommendations to the Workday QA Manager to innovate and improve the support model.
o    Partners with institutions to uncover additional needs and gaps to refine training tactics.
o    Support users on Workday Community administration and Workday Learning Center administration
o    Monitors and Triage Workday Service Desk Requests and acts as the frontline analyst for issues and appropriately routes requests to different resolution groups.

Limited travel with overnight stays may be required in support of activities related to the position.
