Job Description

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Workday Business Intelligence Developer or Senior Business Intelligence Developer. This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Assistant Director for Development and Integration. The position may be located in either Reno or Las Vegas, Nevada.

The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions: two universities, a state college,

four community colleges and a research institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 12,000 employees.

The positions will support the NSHE Workday system environment and provide continuing data reporting and business intelligence support of Workday’s cloud-based administrative solution creating a unified Human Resources, Payroll and Financial Management system for the Nevada System of Higher Education.

SALARY GRADE: C (starting salary range approximately $70,000 – $93,000 and benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, life and retirement.)


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates must have an earned Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or a related field with five years of directly applicable experience.

Preferred experience:

  • 5+ years developing reporting solutions with ERP software

  • 5+ years Human Resource, Payroll or Financial software application experience

  • 5+ Years Business Intelligence reporting experience

  • 5+ Years Data warehousing experience and/or Big Data

  • EDI, Web Services, XML, XSLT, Java experience

  • Workday ERP systems and reporting

  • The incumbent must have the ability and interest to learn new techniques, tools and methodologies

  • Background and experience in higher education and/or expertise for a large enterprise or university

RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following areas of responsibility:

The major purpose of this position is to develop, support, and maintain various types of data reports, queries, and extracts for the Workday enterprise system environment. Responsibilities will include design and analysis, gathering functional requirements, reporting system administration, maintaining documentation, and development skills using various types of analytics tools and Workday reporting features. Design timely and accurate dashboards, reports, presentations, and visual aids used to educate, inform and influence the decisions of HR/Finance and business leaders within NSHE. Analyze existing production reporting and programming logic to provide more efficient operations or to identify difficulties. Revise logic and procedures involved, as necessary. Identify the data model and security requirements including role-based permissions for HR and Financial reporting solutions. Provide necessary statutory and legally required reports globally as mandated by government agencies, state agencies and /or work councils. Develop, test and evaluate reports, dashboard and big datasets. Effectively communicate with NSHE stakeholders throughout the development processes.
