Job Description

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Workday Integration Developer and/or Senior Workday Integration Developer. This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Assistant Director, development and Integrations. The position will be located in Reno or Las Vegas, Nevada.

The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions: two universities, a state college, four community colleges and a research institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees.

A Workday Integration Developer is responsible for the development, support, and maintenance of Workday integrations provided by System Computing Services (SCS) to the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) community. SCS applications support the business functions of the NSHE campuses which include but is not limited to, Payroll, Finance, HRMS, Benefits and Student Financials.

SALARY GRADE: C (Workday Integration Developer: $80,000 to $95,000 OR Senior Workday Integrations Developer: $95,000 to $110,000 commensurate with education, experience, and training) Benefits package includes health, dental, vision, life, and retirement benefits.



Workday Integration Developer: A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required + 2 yrs. directly applicable experience. A degree in Information Systems or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, 6 or more year’s direct experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, Netsuite, Taleo, or other SaaS and On-Premise ERP systems) and at least two years of formal education or training in a related field may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree. Candidate should have functional experience in the areas of Finance, HCM, or Payroll/Time Tracking, Report Writing, Security or Workday integrations.

Senior Workday Integration Developer: A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required + 4 yrs. directly applicable experience or Master’s Degree in computer related field with 2 years directly applicable experience. Alternatively, 8 or more year’s direct experience in Enterprise Resource Planning
(ERP) systems (Workday, PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle) and at least two years of formal education or training in a related field may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree. Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of Workday integrations experience. Additional experience may include functional experience in the areas of Finance, HCM, Payroll/Time Tracking, Security or Report Writing.

  • Provides advanced integration support to users of Workday.

  • Should have Workday fundamentals in two or more core areas (Finance, HCM, Payroll) along

  • with reporting and integrations and one must be at advanced level.

  • Intermediate level of understanding of reports and how they function in Workday.

  • Ability to create advanced and matrix type reports and to communicate complex functional

  • specifications and requirements to reporting team.

  • Basic understanding of calculated fields in Workday and how they function.

  • Advanced level of understanding of EIBs and Integrations in Workday. Must know most

  • integration types, how to use them and what integration type is best used for the given requirements.

  • Advanced ability to analyze and document customer needs and requirements.

  • The incumbent must have the ability and interest to learn new techniques, tools and methodologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following areas of responsibility:

  • Design and Analysis. A detailed analysis of the problem is required to determine the best solution for all inbound and outbound interfaces with Workday. Research and problem solving are required to define a successful solution. An accurate initial definition of the work and a good design will affect the success of subsequent implementation and use. The rapid evolution of information technologies and tools requires researching and learning new techniques and adapting them to NSHE IT processes.

  • Implement a solution through coding, documentation, and testing. Skillful coding and thorough testing are required to create an efficient workable programming solution. Sufficient documentation will enable continued support of the application. Accurate, efficient, understandable, and easy to use applications impact the productivity, efficiency and accuracy of NSHE member institutions’ business practices.

  • Integration Support. Support existing integrations and keep them up to date based on ever changing Workday updates and vendor requirements. Updates to Workday happen twice yearly and require full analysis of all supported integrations and as vendor systems are updated so to must our systems be tested and updated accordingly to ensure integrations to vendors systems continue to function

  • Communication. Communicate with SCS colleagues and with campus customers throughout the processes of creating and maintaining applications. Communication with customers is essential in designing an application and assessing its success. Communication with the SCS programming, operations, systems and customer services staff is essential in forging the team support required for successful service to customers. For customer satisfaction and productivity, it is essential to understand the NSHE customers’ business processes and goals and how available IT applications can facilitate those processes and goals.

  • Other functions may be added as appropriate.
