JOB MISSION:

Using retail business acumen, organization acumen and HR expertise, this position is responsible for setting strategy for and impacting HR outcomes that accelerate the growth of the retail stores in the North America region.  Partnering with the HR Centers of Excellence in Talent, Talent Acquisition and Total Rewards, you will provide regional people strategies that align to our business strategies.  This includes associate relations and leadership development strategies.  Partner with members of the senior management team, consulting with them to provide HR solutions, talent management, engagement, and culture initiatives through customized and practical HR solutions.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Partner with leadership to develop a comprehensive approach to Talent aligned to business strategy and future workforce needs in the region.

  • Lead team effectiveness strategies and talent and performance management for the region.

  • Utilize Workday reporting to improve business performance by identifying root causes and trends to associate activity.

  • Drive efficiencies and processes to operationalize the retail HR function.

  • Partner with leadership to develop a comprehensive approach to Talent aligned to business strategy and future workforce needs in the region.

  • Leverage strong communication and persuasive skills to negotiate and influence stakeholders at various levels in the organization.

  • Drive workforce management strategies to help ensure talent attraction and retention are efficient, productive, and sustained over a long period.

  • Coaches store managers, area, and district managers to ensure they are driving engagement and promoting career development in the stores and region.  

  • Stays current on what is happening in the industry/profession and bringing best practices to the team.

  • Consults on escalated complex associate relations investigations, as needed.

  • Ensures diversity, equity and inclusion are integrated into talent practices at all levels and all retail store locations.

  • Act as a role model to ensure leadership behaviors align to a positive culture and experience for associates.

 REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • 10 plus years of HR generalist/business partner experience

  • Experience with a large multi-door and multi-state and province retail company

  • Project management expertise to manage and execute programs that can operationalize the retail associate and management experience.

  • Operational excellence, leveraging tools and reports to provide insights and recommendations for managing retail store associate engagement, retention, and development.

  • Management experience required.

  • Experience advising senior leaders, consulting on HR strategies.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, influencing skills, conflict resolution skills.

  • Experience with state and provincial labor laws and regulations.

  • Business acumen and organizational acumen- deep knowledge of how the entire organization works and how work gets done beyond the retail business.

  • Experience designing and implementing organization wide initiatives and supporting change management.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop associates, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Flexible Work Schedule

For decades we have fostered a unique culture founded on our values with a particular focus on in-person teamwork and collaboration. Our North American hybrid model encourages rich in-person experiences, showcasing our commitment to teamwork and connection, while maintaining flexibility for associates. New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Our offices are fully open, and amenities are available across our North American office locations. To continue our focus on hybrid work we have introduced “Work from Anywhere” (WFA) for four weeks per calendar year. This model will help us enhance our culture while continuing to maintain elements of flexibility.
