Supply Chain Solutions Instructional Designer II (Remote)

The Supply Chain Instructional Designer II is a strategic internal consultant who focuses on analyzing business needs to update and create training content for self-guided, manager or peer-to-peer led, and classroom learning. Additional responsibilities include conducting needs assessments, conceptualizing, designing, producing learning programs/activities, metric creation and analysis, measuring the effectivity of training, voice narration, and SOP creation.

Essential Functions

  • Identify and recommend method for roadblock removal in the work environment to ensure that training can be supported and effective in goal fulfillment
  • Design and develop course materials based on the principles of adult learning theory
  • Plan sustainable learning solutions targeted at various employee levels within Supply Chain
  • Define success criteria as an expected result of training content, and evaluation of success
  • Formulate job-aids to allow for post training support, including checklists, glossaries, and quick reference guides
  • Create metrics and evaluations, analyze data
  • Validate learning retention using observations, interviews, data collection and review, as well as formal evaluations
  • Remain abreast on technologies, industry trends, and best practices used to create effective solution-driven content
  • Stay informed of relevant changes in processes or procedures related to Niagara’s Supply Chain department and order-to-cash process
    • This includes understanding of roles, best practices, strengths/opportunities, technical systems, in addition to upcoming process and system changes
  • Booster event creation

Content Development

  • Conduct thorough needs assessments to ensure training solutions are developed based on solving knowledge and skill gaps
  • Plan and develop/update multimedia learning content and courses for Niagara’s Supply Chain Team
    • Learning content will primarily focus on:
      • Technical skills required to efficiently use and maintain the software applications required for various positions in Supply Chain, such as Oracle EBS/OTM/Service Cloud, JDA, Logility, Cognos, Supply Chain Guru, among others
      • Core functionality to successfully onboard or retrain in any department within Supply Chain, such as Supply Chain Planning, Customer Service, Logistics Operations, and Procurement
      • Amelioration learning opportunities, for example Excel shortcuts
    • Utilize e-learning software to assist in material delivery
    • Use image, audio, and video editing software to refine raw media to meet the standards necessary for practice in instructional media
    • Ensure developed material is formatted in accordance with company/department formatting standards
      • Content may be used in a classroom setting, e-learning, or alternative
    • Write technical documents and SOPs using relevant technologies
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accurate content
  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of generated documents and job-aids
  • Combat the forgetting curve by creating booster events for learnings


  • Coordinate enrichment activities, such as inter-department rotations and creative learning experiences
  • Manage projects; work to meet project deadlines, report project progress in a way consistent with Team management protocol
  • Analyze the results of training programs and modify future curriculums to better meet the needs of the business
  • Attends summits, training opportunities, and collaborations on and off-site
    • Not expected to exceed 5% off-site
  • Create and track course offerings through Niagara’s Workday learning portal

  • Multimedia skills:
    • Proficient in manipulating and synchronizing video & audio files for use in content delivery  
      • Willingness to do voice over work
    • Ability to identify and interpret multimedia design needs as well as develop creative and responsive design concepts
  • Exercises sound judgment and ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce
  • Ability to work with and influence individuals throughout the organization without direct authority, providing leadership throughout the company
