This position is responsible for Payroll Operations for approximately 9000 employees in the US and about 20 employees in Canada. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and daily oversight of Payroll Team, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with federal, state and local regulations including wage and hour, tax, garnishment and reporting laws.
  • Maintain current knowledge of payroll regulations and trends and ensure team is up to date with training.
  • Perform SOx controls, respond to internal and external audit requests.
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives and efficiencies, define standards for new processes.
  • Ensure team members acquire necessary skill and performance attributes, in line with business and personal development needs.
  • Provide guidance and share best practices with colleagues/team members relating to functional expertise.
  • Perform as Payroll SME on payroll impacting projects.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with HR team members and business partners.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with a minimum of 6 years payroll experience and 5 years supervisory experience
  • Workday Payroll and multi-state payroll tax management preferred
  • Required fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) required.
  • Proven ability to develop policies, processes and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Practical business-oriented approach to problem-solving 
  • Thorough understanding of payroll principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in collaborative and customer service-oriented environments.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
