The Specialist, Application Administrator is responsible for overall system administration including the design, development, maintenance and support of system/application components including supporting documentation. This position is responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability and performance of highly critical systems along with related assets managed on premise and in the cloud.

Here is what you will be doing: 

  • Collaborates on solution design, including technical option evaluation and risk identification, with architects, IT administrations, developers, testers, department manager and project managers.

  • Development of high-quality system solutions.

  • Supports the development of solutions on system related projects including design, implementation and deployment.

  • Creation and delivery of technical documentation to support solutions.

  • Provides support to quality assurance and testing teams.

  • Supports the process for system change management.

  • Assists in the improvement of departmental operations including process optimization, implementation of new approaches and best practices.

  • Provides guidance on performance analysis and the resolution of development and production support issues performance optimization.

  • Development of technical reports, and data extracts to support ad-hoc data analysis or investigation requests.

  • Provides system administration expertise to support effective Incident and Problem Management for the Application Support team.

  • Supports in the research of utilities and the optimization of system processes.

  • Works closely with Business Partners to provide updates on work being completed from a system administration point of view.

  • Maintains a proactive leadership role in being accountable for all system administration work that is being completed on products within the IT portfolio.

  • Strategically assess and prioritize new work items, including gathering work effort estimates, working with Resource Managers, documenting dependencies, risks and assumptions and mobilizing the appropriate teams to complete system administration work.

  • Leads interactions with business partners at all levels of the organization to collect and document data requirements.

Here is what you will need to be successful: 

Education and Experience 

  • University or college degree in Information Management, Information Technology equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of supporting IT systems.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting SaaS applications.

  • Minimum 3 years working in an information technology or related position.

  • Experience Administrating Corporate Systems (i.e. ERP).

  • Microsoft certification preferred.

  • ITIL foundations certification preferred.

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Works as part of the IT team to complete system administration for various services and applications as it applies to related Projects and Initiatives.

  • Provides process improvement suggestions where applicable as it relates to our system implementations.

  • Follows established system administration best practices (i.e. resource management, deployment management and security management).

  • Knowledge of SaaS application model is desirable.

  • Experience in process design and improvement is required.

  • Experience with Workday to Azure integration and support preferred.

  • Knowledge of Workday strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Ontario Health’s on boarding/off boarding processes and systems highly preferred.

  • Experience with Workday Reporting or Integration would be an asset.

  • Understanding of HTML/XML.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure administration preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft O365 administration preferred.

  • Experience in a matrix and shared services environment and case management.

  • Strong knowledge of system development life cycle, including experience with both waterfall and agile methodologies.

  • High level of proficiency using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Visio (including O365).

  • Stakeholder management experience.

  • Interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Ability to communicate (spoken/written) effectively and collaborate with management and business partners.

  • Team player, capable of working independently under minimum supervision.

  • Solid planning and organizational skills including the ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize and monitor a number of responsibilities.

  • Ability to cross train and mentor team members.
