Purpose and Job Summary

As the Product Owner of the HRIS function, the candidate will be responsible for working with leadership, business units, and vendors to define and prioritize the services and solutions provided by the HRIS function. This role will directly oversee the business analysis, product support, development activities, and coordination of HR Systems. Analyzes existing functionality, and recommends process improvements and feature implementations to improve the productivity of the department and to enhance the overall employee experience at ORIX. Work directly with key HRIS technology solutions, led by Workday,  to align the product roadmap with business needs and ensure all compliance, data security, and governance controls are met with all technology and process solutions. Participates in HR data governance to ensure effective use of the system and data. This role will be critical in driving a customer-oriented service to all business and support units in the organization for the HRIS function.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and consultant to various business groups on all HRIS solutions and services.

  • Strategic alignment and end-to-end scoping of HRIS solution configuration and integration.

  • Recommend process improvements and innovative or alternative solutions. Provide advice and options on the best way to automate processes using best-in-class technology.

  • Support management of HRIS security administration, data audits and corrections, system updates, and overall functionality of the system including production and non-production tenants.

  • Responsible for project status reporting directly to the Executive sponsors and Executive Steering Committee.

  • Develop system training to support users’ roles and strengthen the organization’s ability to effectively and efficiently use each platform.

  • Manage all system updates and releases and assist with testing as required.

  • Lead all phases of system and integration testing, as required, including the creation of test scenarios, performing functional tests, support of users during testing, and defect resolution.

  • Identify and lead the development of governance controls, policies, and procedures for HRIS function.

  • Oversee bi-annual Workday releases presenting suggested new features in detail with final recommendations to management on which to implement.

  • Assist in the development of Workday business processes across all modules; including but not limited to HCM, Payroll, Recruiting, Benefits, Talent Management, Learning and Development, and Advanced Compensation.

  • Serve as a functional expert on HR reporting, including maintaining metrics, analyses, and/or dashboards to support business needs.

  • Document report requirements, develop/maintain reports, analyze data, and summarize top findings that impact decisions.

  • Leverage Workday and Excel skills to develop reports for leaders using a variety of data sources.

  • Formulate and communicate the product goal and the themes, epics, and/or user stories on the product backlog in partnership with the HRIS Solution Architect, making sure the backlog itself is visible and transparent to the organization, and the items on it are clear to the broader team.

  • Manages security, privacy, and authentication issues in partnership with IT.

  • Provide functional support for master data governance and master data troubleshooting.

  • Lead and support HR regarding enhancements, inquiries, errors, and data issues.

This position has frequent contact with all levels of employees and management. In addition, this role may interact with outside business partners, vendors, consultants, and other office visitors.

Education, Skills & Experience

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading Workday HRMS strategy.

  • 5-7 years of total experience in the HRMS space.

  • Experience serving as a consultant, preferably with a large consulting firm.

  • Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions within Workday and working cross-functionally across global teams.

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies to support project and product activities.

  • Experience with document management platforms is a plus (e.g. iManage).

  • Implementation and management of HR ticketing platform preferred (e.g. ServiceNow).

  • Training and preferred certification as a professional scrum product owner (PSPO) or as a certified scrum product owner (CSPO) preferred.

  • Advanced Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint skills.

  • Experience with establishing relationships across IT and business teams and defining platform governance.

  • Expert knowledge of HR business processes; ability to document business processes to generate clear and understandable business requirements.

  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills within all levels of the organization.

  • Must be self-motivated, and highly organized with the ability to prioritize independently while demonstrating a sense of urgency.

  • Strong organization and analytical skills.

  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous customer service.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university is preferred.
