Analyst, Payroll

Job Purpose

The Purpose of the Payroll Analyst is to coordinate and manage all of the on-going project for the payroll department. This includes research into configuration and technical specification, knowledge of specific payroll laws, a strong knowledge of payroll processing, organizational skills, inter-personal skills, and being self-motivated to achieve success. They will also be responsible for system updates and assisting the Processing, tax, and GL teams when necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identifies, leads, and implements continuous process improvements and payroll projects.
  • Supports compliance system changes and system updates/enhancements for Payroll.
  • Provides system configurations.
  • Assist Payroll team with bi-weekly payrolls and adjustment runs as needed, including execution of payrolls in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Federal/state regulations
  • Provides excellent customer service to associates across all functions of the company 
  • Complies with internal, external and Audit and SOX-regulated controls
  • Provides support to management as needed on additional projects
  • Guides, trains, and leads team members as required.
  • Ensures documentation associated with payroll enhancements is maintained properly.
  • Assists in vendor management during project implementations.
  • Assists with Payroll process auditing.
  • Provides system report writing and report enhancements.

Qualifications (Education & Experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree required; accounting/business degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a high volume, complex payroll environment with strong knowledge of payroll principles
  • Project leadership experience required.
  • Experience with large company associate base and multi-state payroll.
  • Solid customer service skills and team player perspective
  • Strong ability to analytically review, identify root causes and develop plan of resolution.
  • Good organization skills, as well as an ability to multi-task
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and deliver high quality work
  • Ability to lead team members with department goals, share knowledge and coordinate workflow
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with a high degree of professionalism
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Workday HCM System knowledge preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required – strong utilization of Excel.
