Manager, Financial Reporting & Consolidation

 

What you will be doing:

This position is responsible for assisting the Senior Director of Accounting & Reporting in management of the general accounting and financial reporting activities of Premier Inc. and related companies (“Premier”) and for ensuring that internal and external financial results are timely, accurate and in accordance with US GAAP. This involves management of general accounting and internal and external reporting, including Securities and Exchange (“SEC”) reporting and monthly close packages. This position is also responsible for limited technical accounting research and monitoring of upcoming US GAAP changes and their potential impact on Premier.

This position reports to the Senior Director of Accounting & Reporting and directly supervises one to two accountants. This position will be responsible for management of Premier’s financial statement consolidation, including specific consolidated accounts such as bonus, vacation, stock compensation, and other payroll accounts, equity, intercompany transactions, corporate allocations, goodwill, intangibles, and other accounts as deemed appropriate. This will include management of general ledger functions, such as review of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. This position works closely with individuals in and outside of the finance department to coordinate financial reporting processes and provide timely customer service.

This position is also expected to be a contributor to various process improvement initiatives within the Corporate Financial Services group, including Workday reporting functions.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger/Monthly Close – 30%

  • Directly supervise accountant(s), assist with overall department workflow operations, and provide customer support and assistance to business unit members on operational matters.

  • Oversight for General Ledger group responsibilities including timely and accurate monthly and annual financial reporting and account reconciliations, performance of ad hoc research and analysis.

External and Internal Reporting and Analysis – 60%

  • Oversight for regular and ad-hoc reporting and analysis to members of executive management, the Board of Directors, and other parties of interest.

  • Oversight for preparation of Premier, Inc. 10-Q and 10-K financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and other required disclosures.

  • Oversight for XBRL tagging of Premier, Inc. financial statements and footnotes.

Other Duties – 10%

  • Process improvement initiatives, professional development, and training activities.

  • Performance of SOX-related duties, including maintenance of flowcharts and performance of internal controls.

  • Act as a contact for internal and external auditors.

  • Assist with proxy statement, benefit plan audit and government reporting.

  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience – 5 or more years

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Experience:

  • Accounting/Financial Reporting department experience with progressive experience in financial close operations and internal financial reporting, SEC/external financial reporting requirements, and US GAAP requirements.

  • Internal control implementation, documentation, and maintenance procedures.

  • Multi-entity organizational structures, consolidation accounting and corporate service allocation concepts and processes.

Education:

  • Masters’ Degree

  • CPA

Working Conditions: Air conditioned office space

 

Travel Requirements: Travel 1-20% within the US

 

Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

 

Premier’s compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $80,000 – $148,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
