Location flexibility: This role has the option of being based out of our Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal offices.


What you’ll create and do

As a Workday Payroll Consulting Manager, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Analyze the customer’s current business requirements and processes, and recommend / develop solutions to meet the client’s needs related to: Payroll and payroll accounting, time capture and time processing, leave of absences and time-offs

  • Design, configure and document Workday Payroll, Absence Management and Time Tracking functionality based on customer business requirements

  • Recommend best practices to solve complex, client requirements

  • Assist in developing functional specification for reports and integrations

  • Troubleshoot and resolve of testing errors and issues in configuration, business processes, data conversion, documentation or the user’s lack of experience

  • Assisting the customer in gathering relevant current system data and helping to map the data into Workday

  • Working cross-functionally with consultants from other modules such as HCM, Benefits and Compensation

  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and educate customers on the Workday solution

  • Assisting in application support, training of end users, as applicable

  • Maintain Workday certifications and qualifications

  • Develop new skills outside of comfort zone

  • Act to resolve issues which prevent the team working effectively

  • Coach others, recognise their strengths, and encourage them to take ownership of their personal development

  • Analyse complex ideas or proposals and build a range of meaningful recommendations

  • Use multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations

  • Use data and insights to inform conclusions and support decision-making

  • Develop a point of view on key global trends, and how they impact clients

  • Uphold the firm’s code of ethics and business conduct

What you’ll bring to this role

  • An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work

  • A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences, developing and coaching diverse teams, and ensuring diverse perspectives are heard

  • Previous consulting experience with demonstrated capability in one or more of these areas: Canadian payroll, absence management, time tracking

  • Expertise in the areas of core Human Resources, Benefits, Pension, Compensation would also be an asset

  • Previous experience implementing Workday, Oracle, SAP, PeopleSoft, ADP, Ceridian, Ultimate or similar Payroll/HCM applications

  • Solid understanding of implementation methodology

  • Experience leading client workshops

  • Hands on implementation and technical support experience

  • Creation of documentation and training materials

  • Knowledge transfer to clients and training of super users

  • Collaboration and working with clients and other consultants

  • Interpersonal skills and able to work as a team, as well as, independently

  • Experience deploying multiple HCM/Payroll projects simultaneously a plus     

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse people and individuals at various levels within the organization

  • Superior detail orientation, organization, and analytical skills

  • Able to effectively manage against timelines and goals 

  • Ability to learn technology quickly through instruction and self-training

  • Bilingual Fluency in English and French
