The opportunity

As part of QBE’s global People function, the Workday Lead plays a key role in progressing our Talent and Culture roadmap as we build QBE for the future. Reporting to the Head of People Operations – Performance, Reward and Core Function, you will be instrumental in enabling efficient and effective People processes across the core people functions running the breadth from hire to retire in the employee lifecycle. You will act as a Workday Core HCM and process Subject Matter Expert to advise our various People teams on how knowledge, process, and technology work together and suggest improvement opportunities that will ensure user requirements meet our business objectives.   

Key responsibilities include:

  • Act as the go to for the various People teams to understand the Workday core Human Capital Management (HCM) capabilities and functionality to support various cross function / squad initiatives.  

  • Support timely updates, endorsement and utilisation of new trends / functionality in Workday to ensure maximum usage / benefits

  • Work with the various People teams to plan, prioritise, schedule and lead system and process improvements in the core HR space

  • Manage the pipeline and prioritization of projects/enhancements/releases to implement the HRIS/HR digital strategy.

  • Undertake the analysis of business problems and translate them into requirements to ensure solution meets business requirements.

  • Analyse workflow, create process maps and frequently review and evaluate internal processes for improvement opportunities. 

  • Research and investigate industry best practice systems/tools/processes and showcase these to your stakeholders.

  • Identify issues and risks, ensuring that they are appropriately captured raised and actioned.

  • Ensuring business requirements are sufficiently detailed to enable further project documentation to be documented including technical designs and testing documentation.

  • Ensuring business requirements are managed throughout project and program lifecycle.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with information technology colleagues and business customers to ensure business requirements are well communicated and understood.

About You

As an experienced Workday HCM practitioner, you will bring solid expertise in HR management systems and HR process knowledge. To be successful you will have a structured and polished communication style that can translate user requirements into business cases and influence at all levels. Further criteria include:

  • Proven Workday HCM experience

  • Deep business analysis capability

  • Practical experience of continuous improvement methods and process knowledge

  • Ability to build relationships and provide consultative advice to cross-functional teams

  • Experience working in large and complex organisations

  • Creative thinker with enterprise mindset
