The Opportunity

Under the general supervision of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist would be responsible for processing biweekly payroll for both exempt and non-exempt personnel, in this position you will independently prepare all but the most complex reconciliations. The position is based in West Chester, PA.

The Position

Under the general supervision of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist would be responsible for processing biweekly payroll for both exempt and non-exempt personnel.  In this position you will also resolve questions via email and phone regarding the interpretation of payroll policies and procedures, timesheet validation, garnishments, and other related matters.  Independently prepare all weekly/biweekly reconciliations.

Your Impact

  • Verify employee hours, department, and pay rates from time sheets and codes to payroll worksheets for assigned departments. Revise necessary adjustments into system related to new hires, terminations, and status/position changes.  
  • Verify and audit master file changes from HR system (i.e., new hires, terminations).
  • Research and resolve questions regarding the interpretation of payroll policies and procedures, calculation of overtime, retroactive moneys, vacation, garnishments, and other related matters.
  • Investigate payroll records and provides justification for calculations such as effective dates, receipt dates, authorizations, etc.
  • Address and resolve employee concerns
  • Maintain and update attendance records for all assigned employees.  Track PTO, vacation, bonus days, floating holidays, leaves of absence, and paid and unpaid time for each employee in assigned departments
  • Prepare manual payments as needed by calculating gross to net check
  • Complete wage and salary information forms as required by employees or governmental authorities i.e., Mortgage applications, Worker’s Compensation, Domestic Relations, Social Security Administration, Unemployment, etc.  Pulls Payroll Registers, calculates overtime, and shifts and verifies that total wage calculations balance with year-to-date figures.

What you Bring

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years directly related payroll large company experience.  Workday payroll experience preferred.
  • Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required
  • Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Exceptional mathematical and calculation skills
  • Verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work with a team 
  • Knowledge of payroll, garnishments, multi-state taxing
  • Multitasking abilities
  • Good research and analysis skills
  • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications
