Job Description:

The Financial Accounting Manager, with a specialization in Fixed Assets and Affiliate reporting will lead a team of accountants responsible for performing general accounting responsibilities associated with accounting for all company fixed assets and reporting on the performance of the RaceWay division, Energy Dispatch, and development companies. This individual is responsible for ensuring all financial schedules and deadlines are met. The Financial Accounting Manager is also responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal departments and external vendors.


Affiliate Reporting

  • Oversees the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process for the RaceWay Division, Energy Dispatch and all Development/Specific purpose companies.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal departments; including but not limited to RaceWay and Energy Dispatch leadership.
  • Participate in and contribute to the monthly divisional financial results review meetings
  • Assists in preparing quarterly board of directors’ materials.

Fixed Asset Reporting

  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal departments; including but not limited to Legal, Real Estate, Construction and Taxes.
  • Advises other leaders within the organization on the accounting treatment to be applied for new and/or complex transactions such as the proper capitalization of assets and lease accounting.
  • Reviews the calculation of capitalized salaries and interest.
  • Performs a detail review of significant year-end accounting estimates such as CIP accrual, Impairment and ARO.

General Financial Reporting

  • Supervises and assists the daily work of team members including analyzing, researching, and preparing financial information to meet specific daily and monthly deadlines. This includes but is not limited to assisting with the preparation of consolidated financial results (i.e. fixed asset schedules, monthly consolidation, and year-end audit)
  • Ensures the accuracy and timely completion of all team financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manages and delegates ad-hoc reports/assignments as needed.
  • Obtains and maintains control and process documentation for all accounting processes affecting their area of focus.
  • Responds to inquiries from the Director of Accounting, Vice President of Accounting and other finance and firm wide managers regarding financial results and special reporting requests
  • Respond to any audit related questions that rise from the review of fixed asset, affiliate activity, and consolidations.


  • Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
  • Reviews team members’ invoice coding, journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and month-end schedules.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of department wide plans, goals and deadlines.
  • Provides training to new and existing team members as needed aiding in the professional development of individual accounting employees and the accounting department as a whole
  • Supports the Accounting team with special projects and workflow process improvements as needed


  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or University with a degree in accounting
  • 3-5 years accounting experience; supervisory experience required
  • Experience with Fixed Asset and General Accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Advanced experience using MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Workday software experience a plus
