Job Description:

We are seeking for a temporary Senior Financial Analyst to join our Rakuten USA team! This position reports to the Finance Manager and will provide financial and analytical support to the Finance function supporting Rakuten, USA’s multiple businesses and areas, including review of accounting transaction and accrual preparation in accordance with GAAP, financial reporting and analysis, and budget / forecast preparation. This role primary supports the Rakuten USA head quarter business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contributor towards regular weekly forecasting and annual planning processes, supporting other Finance team members and business leads as necessary

  • Perform a weekly and monthly review of the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement analyzing variance to profit plan, forecast and prior year for each site. Discuss key items with management and summarize key issues in a monthly report

  • Review financial transaction details such as vendor payments across multiple business areas for completeness and accuracy, with a focus on identifying and mitigating issues

  • Collaborate and partner with Accounting Team in monthly closings to identify the variance between budget versus actual with resolutions

  • Evaluate and interpret the budget impacts of personnel, operational expenses and allocations to cross functional teams on a monthly basis and collaborate with their forecast

  • Support business personnel and other functional teams with the understanding of the accounting cycle and standard company procedures to ensure that vendor invoices, travel, and other expenses are recorded in a timely manner, via the appropriate corporate processes and systems to enable accurate financial reporting

  • Ensure completion of various key business analysis projects that have concrete financial benefits to the organization

  • Prepare and track key performance indicators, other metrics, and business or operational trend data for dashboards and other management reporting for Rakuten USA and the Rakuten group of companies

  • Ad hoc reporting and other miscellaneous projects as assigned

  • Evaluate Financial and operational performances and develop and/or suggest alternative solution for areas of improvements.

Qualifications:

  • 6-8 years financial planning and analysis experience; prior experience should include familiarity with U.S. GAAP as well as general financial modeling

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with other Microsoft Office products

  • Experience with SAP Business Planning and Consolidation, Workday Adaptive Planning, Oracle FP&A, Data Blend, or financial planning tools strongly preferred

  • Experience with Oracle, SAP, QuickBooks, or general ledger systems preferred

  • Experience in a global organization and/or the high-tech services industry beneficial preferred

  • Proactive approach and curiosity around tasks such as seeking opportunities on projects, performing analysis, and making recommendations for improvements with a professional mindset; looking to develop leadership and future management skills

  • High attention to detail with a willingness to review and research data

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an aptitude for learning new systems and working with large amounts of data

  • Competent in financial modeling, research, and drawing insights from data and people

  • Adept at collaboration, with strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Able to listen, ask questions, and determine when information is sensitive or confidential

  • Capacity to tailor communications, particularly financial information, to the audience, and to explain financial concepts in non-financial terms

  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and time to meet deadlines, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting or Business
