The Red River HR Team is looking for a strong HR professional to join the HR Operations and Total Rewards team in our Chantilly, Virginia office. The HR Project Manager would own the Red River onboarding, Orientation, and offboarding experiences and system set-up, managing and mentoring a direct report, project management of HR lifecycle projects, and assigned process improvement projects. The ideal candidate would be a problem solver, self-starter, motivated by process improvement, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment. Though this is a hybrid position, 3-4 days of in-office work is expected due to the nature of the role. There is opportunity for more flexibility once onboarding is fully complete. However, flexibility will be based on the requirements and needs of current projects.

Primary Position Tasks:

  • Owns Red River Orientation experience with the ongoing upkeep and delivery of material alongside HR Coordinator.
  • Owns HR-associated aspects of Red River onboarding, required paperwork and actions, including Form I-9 and background check requirements, and Adverse Action process alongside HR Coordinator.
  • Owns HR-associated actions of Red River offboarding alongside HR Coordinator.
  • Expert on onboarding and offboarding Workday set-up troubleshooting and escalating internally when issues arise. 
  • Understands Workday system and actions to support HR Coordinator in making data edits and updates.
  • Owns employment verifications and HR email alongside HR Coordinator, being a backup to HR email, responding to general HR questions and pointing employees to the right contact.
  • Manage and mentor HR Coordinator.
  • Owns project management of HR lifecycle projects, and assigned special projects, improving, streamlining, and standardizing to meet business needs, reduce manual effort, clarify ownership (across teams and within HR team), and ensure HR is adding value to the business.
  • Develops project plan, communication timeline, and executes the project, holding team members accountable and ensuring timelines and milestones are met.
  • Manages several projects of varying size concurrently and consults stakeholders coordinating activities across teams.
  • Understands project goals and expectations and communicates them effectively to team members and stakeholders, crafting communication to support effort (i.e., email, PowerPoint, live presentation)
  • Updates stakeholders on project status and makes alterations in project plan as needed.
  • Collects ongoing feedback from HRBP team, business, and leadership to identify and analyze requirements, advising on HR Operations team priorities and timelines.
  • Manages stakeholder expectations and provides guidance and advice throughout project duration.
  • Fosters and maintains good relationships with HR colleagues to ensure that processes are maintained and supported following project completion.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 2 – 5 years of HR Generalist, HRIS, HR supervisor or Project Management experience
  • Experience implementing HR software, and/or an HR process.

Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:

  • Experience within the Workday platform
  • SHRM certification
  • PMP certification
