As an Executive Payroll Analyst, you'll lead payroll tax activities for the team and support payroll processing and stock needs. You'll be the subject matter expert for external teams and mentor other payroll team members.
About the Role
- Lead processing and auditing for quarter and yearend tax related tasks, including W2/W2 C processing
- Support Workday system enhancement releases and provide team education regarding releases
- Lead payroll tax initiatives as they arise
- Drive the business forward through the identification and implementation of efficiencies for payroll tax processes
- Serve as subject matter expert (SME) and partner with external auditing companies to gather documentation for payroll, tax, worker’s compensation and unemployment
- Partner with the internal audit team and provide documents as requested
- Conduct regular audits to proactively ensure tax compliance
- Support of the filing and auditing of 941’s and Amendments, State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) Taxes, State and Local taxes
- Serve as the SME and main point of contact for relationships with third party vendor for tax filings
- Act as the SME for the Payroll Tax team, including cross-training Payroll team members and providing leadership support as needed
- Assist resolution of any issues related to tax return filings, including penalty notices and abatement requests
- Serve as the backup point of contact for unemployment tax filings, including updating rates as needed
- Keep abreast of the payroll processing system and changes in wage, tax laws and correspond with Federal, State, Local Tax Agencies to advise leaders and team members
- Maintain understanding of overall equity programs including TMSPP purchases, RSU vesting and stock option exercises to support tax needs
- Represent the payroll tax processing team with business partners to identify challenges and provide solutions through changing business needs
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8 years of payroll processing/tax experience
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- Expert level knowledge with Human Resource Information (HRIS) and Human Capital Management (HCM) platforms, especially Workday
- Multi-jurisdiction tax experience and reciprocity
- Knowledge of Labor Laws
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources (HR), Business, Accounting or another related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Expert level communication, organization and customer service skills
