Summary
The Senior Manager Accounts Payable is responsible for managing all operational, financial, and accounting support functions for Ryder System Inc.’s accounts payable process, including transactional processing, exception processing, 1099 filings, banking requirements, DPO guidance, discount payment terms, vendor management, financial controls, and financial/operational reporting for both internal and external customers. In addition, this role manages the physical inventory and fuel reconciliations for FMS, Business Assets, employee expense reporting and corporate credit cards. The accounts payable team at the SSC manages the processing of over 2.8 million AP transactions per year representing in excess of $6B in expense.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute ongoing strategic approach to continuous improvement and efficiencies as it relates to cost, productivity and performance against standards and work closely with Corporate and FMS functional organizations
  • Oversee the day to day activities of the Accounts Payable, Inventories, Business Assets and Employee Reporting processes including support to the FMS, SCS and DTS operations teams as well as external vendors.
  • Work with HQ finance team to develop DPO and cash flow targets and ensure those Targets are achieved through a balance of terms management and discount offerings.
  • Manage and develop SSC, finance support staff, and off shore operations in assigned organization, including training operations personnel as appropriate on Ryder financial systems, processes, and controls processes
  • Create detailed performance metrics for operational and financial (ASL) actual results with explanations of variance to expected results
  • Develop solution strategies for new vendors and product lines to ensure achievement of the overall organizations cash flow strategy. Provide guidance and leadership to support staff to ensure execution of solution

Additional Responsibilities

  • Oversee the processing of accurate and timely billing
  • Oversee that adequate controls are in place to drive Sarbanes Oxley compliance, conduct periodic audits of operations to ensure appropriate controls are in place and effective

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required Business, Accounting, Finance or related field of study
  • Master’s degree preferred MBA
  • Five (5) years or more Managing Finance/Accounting support functions to include Inventory Management and Control, Financial Analysis and Planning, Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Billing required
  • Eight (8) years or more in Finance/Business preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products advanced required
  • Other Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma
