The Salesforce IT Applications team is looking for a Senior Manager of Software Engineering with an extensive background in leading sophisticated enterprise application development and global teams at scale. This is a leadership role reporting to the Director of IT Applications and is responsible for delivering capabilities for internal and external Salesforce customers with a focus on trust, growth, innovation, and equality.

This role will lead a global team of highly talented engineers. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in building and leading technical teams, and in defining, implementing, and influencing engineering strategy and excellence. Broad business understanding with experience in Workday Human Capital Management is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Hire, develop, and cultivate amazing people and teams.

  • Plan, execute and oversee the delivery of projects involving Workday Human Capital Management solution and ensure solutions align with long-term objectives.

  • Be a go-to hands-on person for the team on Workday configuration and solutions.

  • Lead decision-making and collaboration across a broad network of stakeholders, delivery partners, and operational teams.

  • Innovate and optimize engineering processes and standards; drive adoption throughout the organization.

  • Lead operational excellence and appropriate incident management and resolution.

  • Design, Implement and Maintain an efficient resource management process (demand fulfillment, ramp-up/ramp-down, forecasting).

  • Work closely with the recruitment & Vendor teams and enable them to create a resource pipeline for any ad hoc or planned ramp-ups in projects.

  • Work with other functions – Learning/Training on training needs for the team.

  • Effective reporting – data analysis i.e. reporting around all demands, status in terms of fulfillment, challenges if any.

  • Responsible for performance reviews, feedback, and compensation for the team members.

  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Salesforce’s business, products, and IT application portfolio specifically in the Workday and other Human Capital solutions and Cloud space.

  • Maintain and lead awareness of industry best practices and relevant technologies.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Overall 13+yrs experience in IT and 5+ years relevant experience including but not limited to:

    • Managing global engineering teams at scale, including project resourcing

    • Workday Implementation experience with hands-on experience in design and configuration of end-user business processes and data management solutions

    • Functional and practical knowledge in areas including Workday HR, Payroll, Time and Attendance, and integrations

    • Managing vendor partners and teams extended with contractors

    • Delivery accountability for complex IT applications development

    • Proficiency in a spectrum of delivery methods (Agile > hybrid > waterfall)

    • Hiring, managing, and developing people including performance reviews and compensation.

    • Experience in post-Sales business domains (e.g. Support, Services, Renewals, Customer Success, etc.)

    • Leading innovation

    • Salesforce technology expertise preferred

    • Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent preferred

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong people management skills including hiring and developing high-performance teams.

  • Ability to oversee multiple complex project resource needs in parallel

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
