Position Summary:

Are you ready for an exciting opportunity to work with cloud-based technology, drive HR business process improvements, develop trusted partnerships and support key strategic initiatives? The HR Technology Product Analyst will play a critical role in driving business value through our Human Capital Management cloud application (Workday) and will be responsible for providing primary administration and support. This position will serve as a subject matter expert of key HR business processes including Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Performance Enablement, Total Rewards and Data Analytics. In this role, you will be a key interface to all stakeholders and essential to ensuring an exceptional customer experience is provided.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

This role is responsible for the day-to-day ownership, administration and innovation of Securian’s HR Technology stack including Workday, VNDLY, Cybergrants and others.

  • Serve as a lead Workday system administrator to support key functions including security maintenance, business process configuration, annual cycles, report development, process improvements, tenant configuration, data loads and application updates

  • Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand business goals and requirements and advise on solution design and configuration of business processes

  • Create and maintain clear, comprehensive, documented business requirements for requested changes, enhancements, or projects and is accountable for articulating functional processes from beginning to end

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures

  • Identify opportunities for optimization, innovation and automation to improve platform efficiencies

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with team members, business users, application development, corporate partners and other internal and external stakeholders including vendors

  • Participate in agile events including refinement, prioritization and planning

  • Assist with implementations, enhancements, and upgrades, including the deployment of Workday bi-annual releases and the change management process

  • Maintain awareness of Workday future releases/roadmap and current trends in HR Technology

  • Contribute to a high performing team culture based on collaboration, trust and driving results


  • BS/BA degree in Business Management, Information Technology, Human Resources, or equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years HR/HRIS system experience preferred.

  • Self-motivated and independent with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for work.

  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills to define and understand business needs and determine appropriate solutions.

  • Technical aptitude to acquire a thorough knowledge of assigned systems and work with business management and Application Development on current and future technology needs.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information and facilitate understanding of system capabilities and limitations to nontechnical users.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills that allow effective, proactive working relationships in a team-oriented environment.

  • Strong leadership competencies to work with a diverse group of people to successfully implement complex projects that frequently cross the Organization.

Physical job requirements:

  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day

  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week

  • Ability to utilize telephone for up to 8 hours per day

  • Ability to perform grasping tasks throughout the entire work day (examples: handwriting, grasping of equipment/machines, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, handling stacks of paper)
