Position Summary

The Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Lead at South Jersey Industries will dynamically oversee the implementation and operation of our HRIS, Workday and Service Now-HR Service Center. This is a hybrid role that encompasses guidance of HR and IT teams in processing employee data, including overseeing inbound and outbound integrations to and from external HR providers. This Lead will provide leadership in producing HR-related reports and ensuring compliance with relevant local and national regulations. The HRIS Lead will enthusiastically ensure that SJI’s HR information systems are functional, cost-effective, and meet all business needs. To be successful in this role, the HRIS Lead should be familiar with databases and HR software such as payroll systems, applicant tracking systems and HR call center systems. Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the daily operation of our HR Information Systems, Workday and HR ServiceNow

  • Lead the processing of active and retiree employee data in the HCM system and integrations to and from external providers

  • Overlook support of Audit, Compliance and Utility regulated activity for the HR department

  • Design manuals and document data processing procedures

  • Generate ad-hoc reports related to items such as turnover, hiring costs, and benefits

  • Effectively collaborate with IT staff to perform regular tests and upgrades to HRIS

  • Collect necessary data for EEO-1 reporting

  • Thoroughly ensure compliance with applicable data protection regulations

  • Research vendors and implement new integrations as needed


Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated success in a leadership role overseeing resources and project team members

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for interactions with all organizational levels of Human Resources and the business

  • Sustained hands-on experience with HR database administration with a strong understanding of data protection regulations

  • In-depth administrative experience with Workday

  • Solid analytical skills with a talent for analyzing HR data and providing recommendations and actions

Preferred Skills:

  • ServiceNow software experience

  • Certification in Workday HCM Modules

  • Certified in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related certification

  • Foundational knowledge of employment laws and IRS regulations around Health, Welfare and Retirement Plans

Required Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, or a related field, with 8 years of relevant experience with HRIS or similar, or

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, or a related field, with 6 years of relevant experience with HRIS or similar

  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
