Job Summary

Working in conjunction with the Operations Director, provide daily operational supervision, direction and expertise for HR administrative and transactional services. Lead the day-to-day data entry process, data auditing, and cyclical HR transaction with key stakeholders within HR and across the college.

Essential Functions

Workday Transactions: (40%)

  • Provide Data stewardship to HCM Transactional processes 

  • Advise on Workday process improvements, identifying and facilitating opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency

  • Lead HR’s partnership with the payroll team overseeing the payroll auditing process

  • Act as a liaison with key stakeholders such as the Provost Office, School for Social Work, and Dining and Facilities Services to ensure data integrity 

  • Design and maintain standard operating procedures and Workday Job Aids

  • Lead Workday HCM Trainings for the College Community

  • Collaborates with Operations Director to plan and lead the testing and review of the biannual Workday updates and new features releases

  • Work with department leaders to maintain their Workday department position data, supervisory hierarchies, and other HR data. Help managers and other campus leaders best use Workday functionality. Advocate for self servicing of Workday processes (job changes, terminations, request comp changes, etc.).

Administrative Operations: (30%)

  • Supervise HR Coordinator, administrative support staff, and student employees

  • Coordinate and execute on HR communications to key partners & the college at large

  • Manage the day-to-day operational and administrative tasks for the Human Resources Office 

  • Ensure high quality customer service to all employees and the general public who enter the HR office and who reach out to the HR team through digital means

  • Maintain employee files, analyze and archive or dispose of records according to established Records Management Guidelines

  • Schedule and lead HR team meetings (lead the weekly HR huddle) 

  • Optimize user experience of HR Website by managing updates and coordinating with College Relations on the continuous improvement of website user experience

  • Provide problem-solving and triage for incoming requests and issues 

  • Serve as back up to the Operations Director in their absence

Project Support: (15%)

  • Coordinates the planning, organization, and administration of the appreciation program

  • Perform special projects and related responsibilities as initiated and requested and provides back-up assistance for other Human Resources functions as needed

Budget: (15%)

  • Administer and track all Human Resources budgets based on institutional policy and using the college’s financial management systems

  • Perform budget operations such as processing invoices, journal transfers, reimbursements, and reporting

  • Analyze expenditures against the budget and notify the operation director of discrepancies

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)


Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s Degree with 4 years of relevant work experience, three to five years’ experience in project management in a technical field, an acute understanding of the project management discipline and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred

  • Experience with Workday 

Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve complex issues and pull together all stakeholders to identify the root cause(s) of a problem

  • Able to communicate complex information effectively

  • Data savvy and able to analyze, interpret and report back key themes and make recommendations

  • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills required

  • Practical understanding and experience of key HR processes and practices  

  • Knowledgeable in relevant office software most notably GSuite and Workday  

  • Ready and able to take the initiative, originate action and be responsible for the consequences of the decisions made

  • Adapts and works effectively with a variety of situations, individuals or groups

  • Demonstrated ability to operate with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality, assess complex and sensitive issues, creatively identify and implement solutions, interact with all levels of the organization

  • Experience with and demonstrated knowledge of employment laws, management principles and business practices
