Smith+Nephew is hiring Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist collaborates within a team dedicated to UK payroll, responsible for accurately gathering payroll data in a timely manner. This involves handling end-to-end processing for payrolls across various countries in Smith & Nephew's regional setup. Key duties encompass data entry and system updates in Workday and local payroll systems, managing interfaces between Workday and local payroll systems, and executing outbound vendor interfaces. The role entails proficiency in all payroll functions and extends support to payrolls beyond the coordinator's usual processing countries whenever necessary.

What you will be doing?

  • Manually entering and reviewing monthly payroll data to ensure accurate payment for all employees.
  • Managing interfaces between Workday and ADP for efficient data transfer.
  • Calculating company and statutory sick pay, including maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared leave pay.
  • Collaborating with E&Y Global Mobility to ensure precise entry and review of payroll data for UK, UK Nationals, and Tax Equalisation payrolls.
  • Maintaining and reconciling data and systems for various company schemes such as Pensions, Flex Benefits, SAYE, and Salary sacrifice schemes.
  • Conducting audits on payroll data entry and employee status changes to guarantee accuracy prior to payroll execution.
  • Initiating monthly manual payments for employees and third parties, and providing coverage for Payroll Manager responsibilities during absences.

What will you need to be successful?

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in processing UK payrolls for 1000+ employees, demonstrating proficiency in handling large-scale payroll operations.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current HMRC legislation, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations and requirements.
  • Experience with Workday is preferred, showcasing your ability to navigate and utilize modern payroll systems effectively.
  • Familiarity with managed payroll systems, with experience in ADP being desirable, to facilitate seamless data management and processing.
  • Fluent English language skills to effectively communicate with colleagues and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, ensuring clarity and accuracy in all communications.
