Interface Analyst / Developer will provide support for new interfaces and the maintenance of the interfaces currently supported by the Interface Team. Additional responsibilities of the Interface Team include assessing the organizational needs, troubleshooting, supporting and recommending solutions to integration issues as they arise in a 24/7 environment. The Interface Analyst / Developer performs interface analysis, build and performance monitoring and reporting, training and system optimization to ensure the highest level of standardization, consistency and efficiency across the South Shore enterprise. He/she facilitates user departments and vendors to define the interface requirements, specifications and scope. He/she prepares and recommends technical documents needed to successfully deliver and support assigned projects. The Interface Analyst / Developer develops and programs the actual interfaces to/from various applications and/or data bases. Works with end users and IS staff to develop appropriate procedures to monitor the interfaces and ensures optimum system performance. He/she develops and monitors testing methodologies and plans designed to demonstrate interface effectiveness. He/she is responsible for updating interface specification documentation, participates in completing technical documentation, conversion plans and operational training procedures for enterprise staff.

Responsibilities

Adheres to SSH in gathering requirements, work prioritization, change management, and deployment of interfaces and technical solutions.

Performs investigation of interface-related business and system requirements identified during the analysis phase. Communicates with the other team members to ensure that application functionality and workflow requirements and needs are being addressed and met.

Serves as the point person for assigned interfaces with following responsibilities:

Gathers specifications and sets up interfaces accordingly. Develops interface specifications.

Coordinates analysis calls. Determines impact to interface, document configuration and build changes needed.

Escalates issues or roadblocks encountered during analysis. Performs configuration / build changes. Coordinates or assist in all testing/validation of the interface.

Assists with troubleshooting during integrated testing and validation. Works with manager to maintain a detailed issues list to be reviewed periodically with vendor (Epic, Workday, and Cleo) and various teams. Runs error code frequency reports for multiple Epic interfaces; investigate and analyze the errors, cause of failure.

Follows up on failed Workday interfaces and re-runs interfaces as needed. Participates in resolving the failed messages and resubmit the messages before signoff.
 

Creates mapping documents for fields and sub-fields by collecting Epic system values and values for the other systems to serve as a central reference for doing mapping among the various systems.

Researches tasks to find answers to assist in analysis/design.Executes other interface related activities as defined by manager.

Ability to translate user requirements into functional and design specifications, communicate with report consumers to gather specifications, review designs, present drafts, and validate results. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of hospital operations, procedures/functions and the relationships between them.

Strong relationship building and effective communication skills. Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with interfaces. Experience organizing and running multiple projects. Strong organization, analysis and problem solving skills required, with an emphasis on attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to adapt to a changing environment, problem solve and develop solutions. Experience with Microsoft Office required. Familiar with HIPAA, JCAHO and other regulations that impact hospitals and clinics.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with related knowledge in information systems.

Experience/Skill Required:

  • Certified in or experience with Epic Bridges interfaces
  • Proficiency with Rhapsody or another integration engine
  • Ideally experience with Workday interfaces
  • Experience with Cleo and/or other SFTP solution desirable
  • Experience with APIs preferred.
