Job Summary:

As the Sr. IT Finance & Analytics Analyst you will apply strong financial management, analytics, and decision modeling expertise to serve as a finance business partner supporting The Standard’s Information Technology (IT) Division. You will support more than $100M in annual expenditure and be part of a diverse team of technology and finance professionals which leverage Technology Business Management (TBM) practices and software solutions to enable cost transparency, foster IT and Business alignment, and help IT leaders manage the cost and value of IT Services.

Reporting to the Manager, IT Finance & Analytics in Corporate Finance & Accounting (CFA), you will lead financial strategy enablement and decision support for IT Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) and IT Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC). This includes leading annual budget development, capital investment planning, monthly forecasting, and financial reviews. You will also be instrumental in supporting cost optimization strategy for these areas.

What You’ll Do

  • Establish strong business partnering relationships with IT leaders to promote open dialogue regarding operating model efficiency, financial impact and performance to ensure that decision makers have the insights necessary to optimize the value of IT services.
  • Effectively communicate financial and operational insights as part of monthly department reviews to ensure timely identification and understanding of critical issues impacting performance.
  • Provide ongoing financial modeling and analysis expertise to senior IT leaders to support resource management, capital investment and procurement decisions.
  • Interface regularly with IT Accounting team to review results and ensure timely booking of expense accruals, asset deployments, resource time, and business unit allocations.
  • Align quarterly planning information in Apptio Target Process to delivery and financial performance metrics to more clearly communicate key drivers of enterprise allocated expenses to business units.
  • Partner with TBM Analytics teams to detail requirements, execute user test and validate the accuracy of Apptio reporting, or dashboard solutions deployed to users.

The Background You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics. An MBA in Finance or advanced degree in a quantitative field is preferred.
  • Experience:  7+ years progressive IT financial planning and analysis experience in at a top-tier consulting, financial services, or a technology-driven company, including at least 2+ years of end-to-end management of special projects or process improvement initiatives.
  • Prior knowledge of the Technology Business Management (TBM) framework with experience managing IT budgets for Application Development, Infrastructure and Operations, or Information Security areas of a technology organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial data modeling, IT analytics, cost classification, and IT service costing strategies for IT functions.
  • Knowledge of complex resource funding models with the ability to assess the impact of capitalized labor and expense offsets from an adjusted target and forecast perspective.
  • Proven experience leveraging data visualization and analytics tools to tell stories with numbers and frame decision-ready insights.
  • Experience in a rapidly changing environment and comfortable proposing, justifying, initiating, and implementing change.
  • Possess CMA, FMVA or FPAC certification. Technology Business Management or FinOps certifications are a significant advantage.

  • Highly developed problem solving and analytical abilities to frame problems, analyze solutions, and build decision tools to size strategic alternatives and deliver appropriate recommendations.
  • Proven expertise in IT financial management processes such as budgeting, forecasting, cost allocations, and operational performance analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and relate capital and operating expense handling for internally developed software and cloud computing arrangements.
  • Advanced level proficiency in Excel (if statements, vlookup, power pivot), SQL and macros.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Alteryx, and Zebra BI is preferred.
  • Proficient in Apptio Cost Transparency and IT Planning. Vendor Insights and Cloudability a plus.
  • Understanding of cloud-based services usage and vendor pricing; Azure and AWS.
  • Experience using Workday Financials, HCM, Adaptive Insights and ServiceNow.
