Position summary:

The Sr. Solution Lead will be responsible for the planning, coordination and successful deployments of IT Solutions within Workday and other HR, Time tracking and Payroll Platforms across all Stryker divisions, functions, and regions. In this role the Sr. Solution Lead will partner with PMO, business analysts, project stakeholders, and development teams to drive the HR technology solutions through end-to-end delivery and completion. The Sr. Solution Lead needs to be able to produce or review detailed technical documents, configure and/or develop within the assigned applications and deliver the end-to-end solution. The role will oversee and ensure completion of business and project cut-over activities. This candidate will play a key role in transitioning the knowledge of the new/enhanced capabilities (including technical aspects) to the Service Delivery Team(s).

Essential duties & responsibilities: (detailed description)

  • Perform activities following Stryker’s Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) framework and processes
  • Lead solution development and implementation for new systems and enhancements and participate in defining technical standards for the specialty area
  • Working with a diverse business community and Business Partner org to document clear and testable requirements. Takes responsibility for full scope definition and requirements alignment between technical and business teams.
  • Understands the technical design sufficiently to accurately estimate levels of effort and needed skillsets at the user story (requirement), epic, and project levels. 
  • Performs capacity planning and ongoing monitoring around available technical resources, ensuring the right resources are assigned to the proper development tasks and proactively identifying and communicating any resource skill gaps.  
  • Coordinates day-to-day development team activities and accountable for delivery excellence. 
  • Ensures timely escalation and mitigation of issues and risks to ensure a smooth deployment process. 
  • Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the systems development concepts, practices, and procedures. 
  • Overseeing and reviewing designs and solutions for compliance with solution architecture, enterprise architecture and domain guidance.
  • Responsible for the quality of the solution/code – establishing and enforcing best practices and standards.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining environment strategies, release/technical deployment processes.
  • Enabling developers and technical resources to contribute to a coherent solution architecture.
  • Creates, coordinates, and influences the deployment communication plans, including “Go Live” readiness, change management, cutover, and stabilization
  • Works closely with IS Service Delivery teams to ensure implementation of post-production support model and processes.
  • Manages and coordinates with external suppliers and deployment partners to ensure they meet their contracted deliverables, agreed upon timelines, and metrics
  • Financial focus on delivering activities on budget, leveraging time on value-driven activities, and ensuring external resources meet contractual deliverables
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other Solution Architects, Solution Leads and Solution Analysts within the team or same project/program
  • Identify opportunities to improve the systems process flow, performance, and technical efficiencies.
  • Be able to support the business and recommend/provide holistic solutions that integrate the existing technical standards with the business needs and processes
  • Writes specifications, develops architectural concepts and artifacts.
  • Establishes and drives efficient collaboration with other build teams as well as Infrastructure, Security, Governance, Service Delivery, etc.
  • Special projects/assignments as required

Education & special trainings:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in the areas of Computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent technical field of study required.
  • Master’s degree in MIS, MBA or related technical disciplines preferred

Qualifications & experience:

  • Requires 8+ years of experience in IT with minimum 4 or more years’ experience deploying or delivering HR and Payroll solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of US and/or Global Payroll Operations and experience with Payroll software such as ADP GlobalView, (SAP), Ceridian, ADP eTime, PeopleSoft, Workday, Oracle or Ultimate.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC concepts, framework, and deliverables
  • Prior experience and demonstrated understanding Workday or other complex HR and Payroll solutions with direct experience in global system rollouts required. Experience and demonstrated understanding of global system rollouts – strategy, planning, vendor selection and implementation planning
  • Ability to drive initiatives and projects independently from start to finish
  • Experience documenting complex processes and presenting them in a clear and understandable format is required

  • Experience working with executive business stakeholders is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work cohesively across a cross functional and matrixed organization
  • Experience with process mapping, documenting complex processes and presenting them in a clear and understandable format is required
  • Azure DevOps experience is plus.
  • Ability to maintain strong relationships within Stryker Divisions and geographies
  • Experienced in enterprise solution methodologies, preferably in both traditional waterfall and agile approaches preferred
  • Workday Integrations Certification or demonstrated equivalent competencies
  • Strong knowledge of Excel Advanced, PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, Access DB, MS Project Suite (MPP/Visio/etc.)

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with business representatives at all levels to identify needs, define and document requirements, and drive solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to guide the business towards optimal solutions
  • Experience in identifying opportunities for process optimization, process redesign, or development of new process/policies
