This leadership role is responsible for the design and delivery of Sturdy’s innovative and strategic total rewards program, overseeing all aspects of the health and welfare benefits plans and partnering with the Comp & HRIS Analyst to ensure a comprehensive approach to total rewards. Develops strategies that attract, recruit and retain top talent and drive employee high performance through rewards and recognition.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•    Evaluates, develops and implements innovative benefits and rewards philosophies, programs and policies to ensure they align with the business strategy and optimize the ability to attract, retain, motivate and engage top talent.
•    Designs, communicates and maintains all aspects of the benefits and time off programs, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, life insurance, FSA, retirement and defined benefit pension plans, executive benefit programs, and reward and recognition programs.
•    Establishes key metrics and measurements for usage, engagement and cost analysis. Utilizes data analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs and to support efforts to innovate rewards programs as business and market demands change. 
•    Reviews market competitiveness, researches best practices and emerging trends, and recommends cost-effective methods to enhance retention and employee engagement through the development of effective benefits, rewards and recognition programs.
•    Manages our benefits vendor relationships, contracts, bid negotiations, billing/invoice processing and payment, and the design and implementation of each benefit plan. 
•    Collaborates with (and/or manages) the work of the Compensation & HRIS Analyst, working together to ensure that the complete offerings of compensation, benefits and rewards meet the diverse needs of our employee population. 
•    Oversees the annual benefit plan renewal activities and open enrollment process, including program design and rate setting, HRIS configuration and testing, employee and vendor communications, benefit fairs (when possible), reporting on completion, and ensuring all elections and changes are effectively implemented.
•    Partners with Occupational Health Services to manage employee absences and leaves of absence and related payroll and benefits transactions. 
•    Effectively utilizes the Workday HRIS to manage benefit programs, employee enrollment and all program and process needs and changes. Partners with IT and Comp & HRIS Analyst to ensure Workday configuration is optimized to meet all needs. 
•    Leads communication efforts to promote awareness and understanding of total rewards programs to employees, managers and leadership across the organization.
•    Maintains current knowledge of related government rules and regulations, including ERISA, FMLA, PFML, ADA, COBRA, OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, IRS regulations and reporting requirements, and other applicable legal, regulatory and tax related requirements. Completes all compliance, reporting and regulatory requirements.
•    Effectively collaborates with the Finance and Accounting, HR Team members, Payroll, legal counsel and outside vendors. 
•    Performs other duties as assigned. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 
•    Minimum of 8 years of experience in benefits administration, including design, planning, administration and execution of total rewards programs
•    Minimum of 5 years of management/supervisory experience
•    Demonstrated knowledge in the design, administration, compliance, funding and communication of total rewards programs 
•    Working knowledge and understanding of other HR functional areas, including recruitment, retention, engagement, HRIS, compensation, etc.
•    Hands-on leader who holds a strategic viewpoint while working on and leading the day-to-day
•    Proven ability to handle multiple projects and tasks, reprioritize work and deliver results in a timely manner while navigating a complex, fast-paced environment
•    Ability to work independently and to engage, listen and collaborate effectively with others
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills
•    Strong customer service skills 
•    High attention to detail
•    Ability to adapt and change in a fast-paced environment
•    Must hold the highest level of ethical behavior and be committed to maintaining confidentiality of highly sensitive information
•    Excellent skill level with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
•    Experience creating and implementing a total rewards structure that ties benefits, compensation, rewards and recognition programs into one strategic initiative geared toward effective recruitment, retention and engagement of employees
•    Experience effectively designing, executing and administering compensation programs 
•    Experience with job analysis, salary benchmarking, executive compensation and incentive plans
•    Understanding of the various types of leaves of absence, the legal requirements of LOA’s and the benefits and payroll implications of LOA’s
•    Experience creating and/or testing new and existing benefit plans in an HRIS system.  Experience with Workday is a plus.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:
•    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
