Job Description:

We are looking for an Application Analyst with a strong technical background and experience with corporate applications, to join Corporate Application Solutions (CAS) team.

In this role you will take part in the projects to implement vendor products for Corporate HR business area and become a member of the support team going forward.

The successful candidate must be willing to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment, can work effectively with internal business analysts, architects, designers, developers, technical infrastructure resources, account teams and business partners to implement IT solutions that meet business needs. 

In a support role you will be exposed to a variety of assignments, responding to service requests, problem solving, maintaining stability, performing technical implementations, coordinate activities and work together with the team members and vendors to maintain, enhance and customize the supported systems.

What will you do?

  • Provide technical data-driven solutions as Sun Life progresses on the Digital Transformation journey and enabling our business with downstream business data-driven technologies.
  • Identification of business requirements, functional design, process design (including scenario design, flow mapping), prototyping, testing, training, defining support procedures
  • Peer review design and configuration to ensure maximum usefulness to the customer and compliance with Workday’s best practices.
  • Triage Production issues and implement configuration changes
  • Perform integration configuration, testing, and deployment activities, as needed.
  • Apply analysis skills to understand and assess the impact of infrastructure and technical changes within the environment
  • Work on a variety of projects focused on cloud databases, ETL integration, vendor specific services.   
  • Setting up Batch processing for incoming/outcoming feeds, schedule and monitor for performance
  • Provide ongoing support to the operations team, on-call, problem analysis, resolution and escalation.
  • Provide recommendations and alternatives for system enhancements
  • Take complete ownership of work assignments and ensure the successful completion of assigned tasks
  • Establish and maintain constructive relationships with offshore and 3rd party team members, business partners, subject matter experts and software vendors.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for supported systems
  • Ensure Sun Life Information Security Policies and GCC are complied to in any solution
  • Contribute to defining timetables and project plans
  • Maintain effective communication with management, team members and the business

What will you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science
  • 3+ years of progressive information technology experience with full application development life cycle and systems integration experience
  • Experience working with complex technical environments, multiple IT platforms (Windows, Cloud, Mainframe)
  • Experience with integrating vendor packages into an established production environment, conducting major implementations and upgrades
  • Good understanding of relational databases concepts (SQL Server)
  • Strong knowledge of SQL query language
  • Experience with navigating Windows servers, Windows scripting languages (Powershell)
  • Experience with ETL development (Informatica PowerCenter)
  • Experience with DevOps Tools (Git, BitBucket, Gradle, Jenkins)
  • Proficient with the ITIL framework and processes such as Change, Incident, Problem and Configuration Management
  • Understanding of Agile Methodologies
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to analyze situations/problems systematically and deliver effective right-sized solutions in a timely manner
    • Strong organizational and planning skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

What will be nice to have?

  • Experience with Workday Integrations, HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, Recruiting.
  • Experience with Control-M scheduling tool 
  • Experience with Cloud computing.
  • Mainframe experience (JCL/Zeke)

Notes/Unique requirements:

  • Occasional weekend and after-hours work
  • On-call support as part of rotation
  • Occasional travel between Sun Life locations may be required depending on work assignments
  • RCMP clearance

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
