Summary of Job Purpose:
Senior Manager, Diversity, Equity& Inclusion is responsible for assisting with the ongoing development, implementation, and monitoring of Sysco’s DEI efforts across the enterprise.


  • Manage and execute global DEI strategies to ensure the integration of DEI principles into all business processes, in partnership with Talent Acquisition, Global Talent Management, Total Rewards, and other critical functions.
  • In partnership with the Learning & Development team, develop training modules to educate associates at all levels about DEI-related issues.
  • Coordinate all Global DEI Advisory Council activities, including monthly meeting agendas and evolving areas of focus.
  • Manage Sysco’s participation in DEI-related benchmarking surveys, including gathering responses from key stakeholders and/or the HRIS team, ensuring timely and accurate submission, and analyzing survey results.
  • Manage major external partnership relationships and related programming.
  • Maintain and optimize Sysco’s DEI dashboard.
  • Manage and implement processes and tools to measure the effectiveness of DEI initiatives.
  • Gather, manipulate, and analyze DEI-related data as needed.
  • Develop process for tracking “Real Talk” dialogue feedback and leader participation.
  • Assist in preparing DEI-related updates for key stakeholders, including, but not limited to, the CEO, Chief HR Officer, Executive Leadership Team, and Board of Directors.


  • Proven project management skills; excellent meeting planning and facilitation skills
  • Solid business-focused practitioner with extensive experience working with business leaders to create a high-performance culture
  • Ability to drive business in a distributed environment across multiple geographies
  • Strong business acumen and ability to align DEI objectives with overall business strategies of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with all levels of management, employees, and vendors
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload in an organized manner
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and collaboratively to accomplish assignments with minimal supervision
  • Ability to relate to and work with all levels and functions of an organization
  • Ability to quickly understand and effectively describe business case for DEI
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills (anticipating conflict and proactively addressing issues)
  • Highly empathetic and excellent listening skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of global diversity regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual candidate preferred


  • 5+ years’ experience in managing and executing DEI programs and initiatives or relevant HR experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in project management


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business or related field


  • DEI-related certification a plus.
  • PHR/SPHR certification a plus.
  • High proficiency/expertise in Microsoft Office Suite — particularly Excel – with a strong comfort level working in HR systems or learning new systems.
  • High comfort level with data manipulation / leveraging data to tell a compelling story.
  • Functional knowledge of WorkDay preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.


  • For those candidates residing in the Houston area, this position must be performed from the Corporate office facility based in Houston, Texas.  Sysco may consider a remote working arrangement for exceptional candidates located outside of the Houston area.
  • Travel may be required up to 20% to Sysco facilities or operating sites. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
