TNTP seeks two full-time Technology Directors for our greater Technology team.  One Director will lead our Enterprise Systems team and the other Director will lead our Data Management Strategy team. Each position will be based in a home office anywhere in the U.S. and is available immediately. Travel for team and organizational meetings a few times a year may be required.

The Technology team is a dynamic team which provides services to over 800 TNTP staff working on more than 40 contract sites across the country and maintains a cloud-based infrastructure and suite of enterprise-level systems of moderate to high complexity. The team works directly with internal clients to provide exceptional customer service, manages technology vendors, and mitigates risk. The Technology team approaches work through a model of continuous improvement and governance models to support the evolving work of internal clients and address the business needs of a growing, virtually connected organization. We operate with a team culture focused on collaboration, sustainability and professional development.

What You’ll Do

As Technology Director, you will lead the strategy for your portfolio by maximizing people and systems resources for sustainability and organizational growth.  The Technology Director for Enterprise Systems will oversee strategy for our use of Workday, Adaptive, Salesforce and supporting systems.  The Technology Director for Data Management Strategy will oversee our organizational data strategy, including how we securely collect, store and access data to answer key business questions. 

Specifically, a Technology Director will:

  • Build and maintain relationships with TNTP senior leadership, the Vice President, Technology and other key stakeholders to inform future direction of technology and systems for TNTP under their leadership.
  • Lead portfolio strategy by forecasting, researching, planning and selecting new ways to achieve business goals through technology and process improvements.
  • Codify strategy into clear and actionable roadmaps, working closely with Senior Business Analysts and/or other tech experts to define, scope, timeline and limitations.
  • Anticipate challenges and opportunities within your portfolio, adapting as necessary to support organizational impact goals and revenue and expense targets. 
  • Identify key technology priorities for TNTP to explore and conduct research and development that will position us to overcome current obstacles and anticipate future needs connected to your portfolio of systems and services.
  • Bring excellent management skills, including experience effectively managing diverse teams, building inclusive team culture and growing and developing other technical staff to be successful in their work and career. 
  • Effectively communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences at varying levels of organizational leadership.
  • Work with Partner, Technology Operations to ensure compliance with security policies and mitigate risk.
  • Lead governance models at the strategic level.
  • Lead change management for highly complex projects and initiatives.
  • Manage vendors and contracts in close coordination with Senior Business Analysts for platforms.
  • Bring strong business knowledge, including knowledge of organizational services and structure and industry trends, products, services and client needs.
  • Codify the impact of changes to our systems and/or processes.

Our Technology Director for Enterprise Systems will also:

  • Ensure that TNTP’s enterprise systems for CRM, HR, Finance, and Programs are meeting the strategic needs of TNTP.
  • Optimize the use of our enterprise systems through continuous improvement, working with key stakeholders and Enterprise Systems team members to identify, develop and implement more efficient business processes.
  • Work closely with senior leaders overseeing Workforce, People Operations, Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis, Organizational Learning and Development, Business Development, Fundraising, Legal and Pipeline.

Our Technology Director for Data Management Strategy will also:

  • Lead selection and implementation of our data systems, models, and processes aligned with a new organization-wide data strategy.
  • Develop a deep understanding of data needed to drive key organizational and division-level decisions.
  • Direct and support the professional development of a newly established data management strategy team and governance model.
  • Work closely with senior leaders overseeing Business Development, Impact, Organizational Learning and Development, Workforce and Legal to inform ongoing strategy.
  • Support the development of training to educate data producers and consumers on best practices and processes across the data lifecycle.

We expect our Technology Directors to:

  • Know Governance. You can quickly build a strong understanding of TNTP’s strategic direction and our business model and can translate that to lead strategic decisions for your portfolio of platforms and services leveraging our governance model structures.
  • Effectively balance competing priorities and needs. You’ll use your strategic thinking and planning skills, analytical abilities, and sound judgement to drive multiple, complex streams of work, proposing effective solutions to thorny issues and making critical decisions on the best course of action for our work. You’ll leverage practicality and comfort with ambiguity to balance competing needs and priorities across a variety of leaders and organizational contexts.  
  • Proactively collaborate with and advise TNTP staff. You’ll regularly partner with staff at all levels of the organization, including TNTP leadership, and work closely with the Vice President, Technology. You will use your ability to unite teams and cultivate strong relationships with candidates, other internal teams, direct reports and leaders to establish yourself as a trusted advisor and advise on portfolio strategy.  
  • Be a natural problem-solver. You can leverage your experience in systems leadership, strategy and resource management to quickly build a strong understanding of TNTP’s service offerings and make connections across services. You’ll use your analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly identify challenges, analyze the root causes, and propose complex solutions and aligned tools, processes and systems to support TNTP staff and evolving needs

Qualifications

  • Experience leading strategy, resources and/or enhancements at the enterprise system or data strategy level with significant organizational impact. 2 years minimum, more is preferred.
    • Technology Director for Enterprise Systems – experience with Workday, Adaptive and/or Salesforce strongly preferred.
    • Technology Director for Data Management Strategy – experience with modern data architecture, including strong practical experience with several of the following: data standards, data ingestion, data storage, data visualization and data security.
  • Experience with a wide variety of business analysis techniques, including but not limited to process design, implementation and improvement; cost-benefit analysis; risk analysis; and metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Experience managing teams to tackle complex projects or take on organizational change efforts. 
  • Experience providing development and cultivation to technical experts within your team; experience managing others preferred.
  • Ability to communicate well, facilitate discussion, resolve problems, and understand the needs and desires of end-users and a diverse group of stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify challenges, assess risk, and proactively generate long-term solutions in ambiguous situations.
  • Proven experience using data to drive decision-making.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to work independently and efficiently towards goals in a virtual, fast-paced environment and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

What We Offer

TNTP offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position with the potential for an annual performance-based bonus. The salary range for this position is $100,000 – $150,000 annually. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering the majority of the employee premium for the base medical plan and subsidizing the majority of costs for a spouse/domestic partner and children.
