Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting

About the Role

The Senior Financial Analyst will be a front-line member of the financial reporting team.  You will be responsible for a wide range of financial reporting matters focused on the accurate and effective communication of the entity’s financial and operating results to its key stakeholders.  You will also provide valuable financial insights and decision support analysis to the business.

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Accountable for the timely, complete, and accurate preparation of the company’s quarterly reviewed and annually audited consolidated financial statements per IFRS, as well as the preparation of the company’s Management Discussion and Analysis

  • Responsible for the preparation of the company’s quarterly compliance reporting and covenant calculations per the company’s external agreements

  • Assist with the preparation of key reports presented quarterly to the company’s Audit Committee and Board of Directors

  • Research and analyze complex, non-routine accounting issues and key agreements (customer contracts, partnership agreements, debt and hedging arrangements, leases, etc.) to determine IFRS compliant resolutions, make recommendations, and draft memos to support policy decisions

  • Prepare and maintain complex accounting models related to debt accounting, deferred revenue, hedges, contingent consideration, leases, other post-employment benefits, etc. to prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations

  • Assist the Company’s external auditors during the completion of quarterly reviews and annual audits

  • Liaise with the company’s external tax advisors to prepare quarterly/annual tax provisions, ensure that tax returns are accurately completed and filed on time, and assist with all other tax matters as they arise

  • Assist the Treasury team in preparing quarterly and annual cash flow forecasts to ensure cash liquidity and to accurately estimate distributions to the company’s parent

  • Provide budget/forecast support to the company’s Financial Planning and Analysis team (and other business units) for non-operational expenses

  • Determine and implement financial reporting impacts for ongoing mergers and acquisitions

  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis, reports, and special projects as assigned

About You

  • Recently designated CPA, CA

  • Experience in preparing financial statements and note disclosures per IFRS

  • Strong analytical, technical accounting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to process multiple sources of information to deliver insights and well thought out recommendations

  • A strong sense of curiosity and a high degree of attention to detail with a drive to enhance knowledge base and relationships in a proactive manner

  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills with all levels of an organization

  • Possess a positive attitude a team player mentality with a strong sense of ownership and accountability

  • Resourceful, flexible, and able to multi-task to meet deadlines

  • Strong computer skills, including high proficiency in MS Excel

  • Previous experience with Workday Financials and Adaptive Insights is an asset
