Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance (Listings), this role is the primary lead on the accounting and financial reporting specifically for the TSX Trust Integration Program. This role provides front-line financial support to the Program and ensures key transparency into both historical and forward-looking program budget and financials across multiple dimensions.

This role will understand key financial and project reporting policies & procedures for TMX and their application at TSX Trust, and play a major role in contributing to the timely delivery of accurate and complete financial results for the business.

Now Hiring: Sr. Project Financial Analyst (1 year contract)

Job Description:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance (Listings), this role is the primary lead on the accounting and financial reporting specifically for the TSX Trust Integration Program.  This role provides front-line financial support to the Program and ensures key transparency into both historical and forward-looking program budget and financials across multiple dimensions. 

This role will understand key financial and project reporting policies & procedures for TMX and their application at TSX Trust, and play a major role in contributing to the timely delivery of accurate and complete financial results for the business.

Key Accountabilities:

Accounting & External reporting:

  • Lead in the preparation of required month-end and quarter-end internal and external reporting, including reconciling results and data between different corporate views

  • Prepare journal entries for, analyze, and reconcile major balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and ensure any reconciling items are dealt with in a reasonable manner and time frame

  • Evaluate the progress of work to recognize timely and appropriate accruals

  • Coordinate with external auditors on year-end financial statements audits

  • Contribute to continuous (Workday) financial system adoption and process improvements 

Results analysis and reporting:

  • Prepare management reporting packages to the Integration Steering committee/leadership team and the Finance team

  • Coordinating key inputs from and communicating critical process guidance to the program team members

  • Perform and manage project management office (PMO) functional tasks and perform day-to-day contract payment activities 

  • Implementation of and adherence to a rigorous expense spending control 

  • Assist with a detailed understanding of variances to budget, forecast, and prior year for legal entities.

  • Participate in monthly review meetings with FBPs impacting LE’s

  • Track and report upon synergies achieved in relation to the financial model and identify variances and drivers behind the same

Planning, tracking, and Forecasting:

  • Prepare budgets and forecasts for the Integration program and track financial metrics

  • Support Project Managers with monitoring their approved workstream budget helping to identify and action variances on a timely basis, leveraging standard project change request processes

  • Maintain a rolling Integration financial model 

  • Assist cost center managers with the upload of data, and validation in the budgeting
    system

  • Other ad-hoc requirements linked to the planning or forecasting process.

Must Have Skills:

  • Strong relationship-building skills to acquire the trust of business partners

  • Comfortable working to tight deadlines at quarterly and year-end periods.

  • Self-starter and highly motivated team player

  • University graduate plus a CPA designation is preferred (or in progress)

  • 3 to 5 years of progressive finance experience

  • Experience with tracking budgets across individual workstreams and rolling up to the program level leveraging standardized reporting processes and controls

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices

  • Experience in a multi-entity and multi-currency environment is considered an asset

  • Excellent attention to detail and highly accurate while also fast and efficient

  • Strong technical skills, including Excel (pivot tables, model building, model auditing), ERP systems, and the Google Suite of products.

  • Highly motivated team player and self-starter

  • Ability to multi-task in an efficient, controlled manner

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and collaboration skills

  • Experience with Workday is also considered an asset

  • Customer service orientation.
