This position focuses on providing strategic leadership, development and management of health, welfare and retirement benefits programs in a manner that ensures employee engagement, market competitiveness and fiscal responsibility. Also includes, the accountability of our 3rd party vendor partnerships, compliance and executional requirements. Manages, develops, and evaluates the benefits team. Works collaboratively with cross-functional departments while focused on providing support for the HR department.

DESCRIPTION

  • Drive strategic planning, design, implementation, maintenance, regulatory compliance, communication, and administration of benefits and wellness programs.

  • Responsible for leading the team to successfully manage and administer the company’s health and welfare plan(s), retirement plan(s), and other ancillary benefit plans as developed throughout the organization.

  • Responsible for coordination, planning, and communication of annual enrollment. 

  • Reviews and analyzes current Employee Benefits program effectiveness and market competitiveness; provides recommendations for improvement.

  • Develop strong relationships with internal clients and external vendors to create greater efficiency, improve the delivery of services and reduce costs.

  • Assure compliance with all applicable federal and state statutes, including (but not limited to) ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, and OSHA.

  • Effectively monitor and implement the requirements and impact of the Affordable Care Act.

  • Serve as an administrator to the company’s 401(k). Ensuring that the organization is in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Work closely with brokers and outside counsel to ensure plans remain in compliance, including annual filings, audits, communications, amendments, and plan documents.

  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing the benefits and department operational budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

  • Work with HR team in responding to employee and leadership questions or concerns regarding the LOA or reasonable accommodation process and certifying the return to work process.

  • Oversee team that manages benefits for the U.S. employee population. 

  • Identifies and makes recommendations for changes to processes and programs that can be automated or streamlined.

  • Has thorough knowledge of Workday, and the ability to maintain the integrity of employee information in Workday and generate reports from same.

  • Ability to lead other projects and initiatives as needed. 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLookups) required. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively across cultures and organizations; strategically focused on continuous improvement. 

  • Strong leadership and team management skills. 

  • Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience using Workday.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s in Human Resources or Business Administration with the related field of study required 

  • 7+ years experience in employee benefits with proven experience managing benefit programs for a large employer 

  • 3+ years of management responsibility, including working with and presenting to senior management. 

  • Proven experience identifying opportunities and driving enhancements to programs and offerings. 

  • Demonstrated success in the design and implementation of successful benefits and well-being strategies.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • CBP or CEBS certified preferred. 

  • Experience managing benefits in Canada and Puerto Rico.
