Technical Business Analyst
Working at Transurban is different; it’s a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city-sized solutions—building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads—to solve pressing transport challenges that are slowing cities down.
About the role
We’re seeking a Technical Business Analyst to support Transurban’s Workspace Technology team.
You'll be at the heart of transforming our business processes and systems. Your mission? To dive deep into analysing and assessing our operations, gathering and documenting critical requirements, and supporting testing activities to ensure we achieve seamless, end-to-end business outcomes.
In this pivotal role, you'll be critical to our projects – defining requirements, scoping out projects, documenting processes, and identifying innovative solutions that align perfectly with our business objectives. You'll be the go-to expert for supporting configuration changes and will work hand-in-hand with stakeholders to ensure we achieve the best possible outcomes for our users. This means you'll be instrumental in identifying and recommending mitigating controls and impacts from system changes and enhancements.
You’ll join an innovative team who are collaborative and thrive in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
As our Technical Business Analyst, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging, and exciting work.
Day-to-day, you will:
-
Gather requirements from various stakeholders across Transurban businesses and present ‘As-Is’ business processes.
-
Facilitate stakeholder workshops for requirements gathering and exploring solution options to arrive at a preferred “To-Be” state.
-
Handle detailed data mapping requirements and information flows.
-
Produce self-service materials to support users in adopting new system functionality.
-
Support business stakeholders in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) where appropriate.
-
Demonstrate requirement traceability through to delivery.
-
Act as the main interface between project support team and functional areas.
-
Provide business analysis and subject matter expertise to process owners.
-
Identify areas for process improvement and lead improvement activities.
-
Support change management related activities to ensure end user adoption of new tools, systems, and/or business processes.
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
-
Project and/or BAU business improvement delivery experience in a business analyst role.
-
Detailed understanding of business processes and the ability to design and interpret process maps.
-
Ability to engage and elicit complex requirements from stakeholders at various levels of the organisation.
-
Good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
-
Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
-
Analytical thinker with highly developed problem-solving skills.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Great stakeholder management skills, with experience interacting with stakeholders at both the Executive and Operational level.
Highly regarded:
-
Experience in Business analysis (including process design and improvement) and having worked across multiple phases of the systems development life cycle.
-
Experience working within an Agile project delivery methodology.
-
Experience with Workday HCM and/or Finance modules.
-
Working knowledge of market-leading ERP solutions (Workday, SAP, PeopleSoft, etc.).
-
Experience in projects involving external vendors and partners.
-
Proven ability to promote mutual understanding with stakeholders to gain agreement to proposed solutions.
If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.
With a career at Transurban, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:
-
A range of flexible working and leave options, including the option to purchase an additional six weeks of leave each year.
-
16 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of gender or carer status), with no waiting period, with Superannuation paid during unpaid leave as well.
-
Learning and development opportunities to support your career interests.
-
Health and wellbeing support—access to Headspace and our EAP program, wellness facilities, and more.
-
Share offers and insurance benefits.
-
Social activities, community give-back programs, and paid volunteer days.
We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.
