IT System & Process Manager

Based at either UKCEH Wallingford, Lancaster or Edinburgh. We offer a hybrid working model and flexibility.

Comprehensive Workday systems training will be provided.

Job Purpose

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Systems professional to have responsibility for the strategic development and ownership of the UKCEH Finance and HR platform. Our current provider is Workday. This includes the management of technical oversight, support, change/release/deployment management and ensuring that Workday is developed in line with the UKCEH vision and organisational objectives and goals.

You will work closely with both People & Skills and Finance to ensure that Workday is a fit for purpose system providing the capabilities required by UKCEH, and will provide strategic input into the Workday Operational Processes across all functions that utilise Workday and develop the UKCEH Workday Roadmap to ensure that UKCEH have a clear path for future developments and enhancements. You will help to identify gaps or inefficiencies in processes, detailing where Workday can help (Ownership of the business processes will remain with the functions).

Main responsibilities

  • Act as the Strategic owner for Workday & the Operational Processes across all the Workday business functions: HR, Finance, Projects & Procurement

  • Responsible for the Workday development roadmap. Including leading on development of integrated solutions for advancing corporate needs of Workday in partnership with the business teams to define the strategic development priorities for UKCEH

  • Line management of the Workday analyst team

  • Identify system development & improvements across Workday, including reporting, System administration and security

  • Responsible for ensuring the UKCEH Workday environment is secure and fit for purpose (including ownership of Workday security model)

  • Consultation on business processes. This includes working with the business teams to understand requirements and providing guidance on where Workday can help with processes

  • Continuous improvement of system configuration and user uptake

  • Collaboration with external support partners

  • Responsible for Workday team resourcing / work allocation including all BAU and project-specific work for Workday

  • Ownership of Large-Scale Workday and Infrastructure Process projects

  • Responsible for the Bi-Annual Workday Releases

  • Responsible for effective Workday system change control & documentation

  • Responsible for line management of the two Workday Analysts.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Solid track record of IT system oversight, support, change/release/deployment management and ensuring that the system is developed in line with company vision and organisational objective and goals. 

  • Substantial knowledge of development, implementation and management of ERP systems

  • Knowledge and proven ability in management of ERP processes, including developing new functionality & security protocols

  • Knowledge of best practice across HR, Finance, Project and Procurement service delivery 

Experience/Proven abilities related to the position

  • Experience of line management 

  • Ability to deliver exceptional service and build credibility with colleagues and external suppliers
