We are excited to announce the opening of our Senior HR Data Analyst position. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to help design and deliver people analytics within a generally-funded research organization, to improve employee experience and contribute to our mission of accelerating scientific discoveries in Earth system science.

Where You Will Work:

At UCAR|NCAR|UCP, you will work alongside a dedicated team of professionals conducting critical research and community outreach to solve complex Earth system science problems including climate change, air pollution, extreme weather, floods, drought, wildfires, and space weather, all with the goal of improving human life and reducing economic loss. Each of us, from scientists to the professionals who support their work, serves the public and a collaborative community of scientists in our mission to understand the complex processes that make up the Earth system, from the ocean floor to the Sun’s core.

Location: Hybrid or Remote (would be considered), with the expectation of periodic travel to Boulder, CO, and other locations

Position Type: Full-Time

Hiring Salary Range: $89,420- $111,775

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT UCAR
 

Below are some key responsibilities within this role (Not limd to)

HR Reporting and Analytics

  • Actively participates in the full development life cycle of HR reporting, including developing business requirements; writing reports in various BI tools, validating report quality and accuracy, and supporting production deployment

  • Provide meaningful data visualization to support decision-making, collaboration, planning and buy-in

  • Analyzes data and identifies trends in various HR functional areas including compensation, benefits, talent management, immigration services, employee engagement, and more

  • Facilitates the use of dashboards or metrics for HR leaders to gain quantitative insight into complex business questions

  • Collaborates closely with the Workday team on analytics strategy, sharing knowledge, and building on the report and analytics foundation.

HR Analytics Customer Service

  • Serves as the primary point of contact and internal consultant for HR managers and end users; researches and resolves issues as necessary, monitors routine reporting deliverables and tools.

  • Works with HR leadership and end users to assess and understand institutional and program needs that can be addressed using business intelligence tools.

  • Communicates with HR customers throughout the development of analytical tools and reports to ensure adequate requirements gathering, design progress feedback, acceptance, testing and end product adoption. 

  • Partners with the IT Change Management Lead in developing reference and training materials.

Organizational Analytics Strategy

  • Partners with HR leadership, IT and analytics professionals in the development of an organizational data analytics/business intelligence strategy, and alignment of HR analytics with the broader company strategy.

  • Partners with analytics professionals throughout the organization to support a central analytics strategy, including an analytics practitioners group.

WHO WE’D LOVE TO JOIN OUR TEAM
 

Educations: 

(REQUIRED)

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years’ experience configuring and administering business intelligence applications, databases, and report development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience preparing and giving effective and engaging presentations. 

  • Understanding of project management methodologies and leading practices (e.g. Agile, SCRUM, Waterfall). 

(DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED)

  • Master’s degree in business, mathematics, computer science or other quantitative field.

  • Professional experience analyzing Human Capital Management data for actionable insights into turnover, DEI, benefits, recruiting, etc.)

  • Professional experience in a higher education, non-profit, or research institution.

  • SPHR, compensation and/or benefits certification a plus

Key Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Demonstrated experience providing insights that can be leveraged into action, administering and configuring business intelligence applications, and an exceptional ability to use data and visualizations to tell stories.

  • Proficient in SQL programming for data analysis.

  • Experience in Human Resources functions to be able to assimilate and understand data stories.

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.

  • Skill in authoring reports using tools such as Workday, Tableau, PowerBI, or other report writing tools.  

  • Experience working with complex institutions, in-depth analysis, extensive appraisal of general conclusions, and creative conceptual thinking about options
