Alumni Relations and Development (ARD) engages alumni (~220k), current students, parents, and friends of the University through intellectual, professional, and social activities on campus, around the world and online. ARD raises $600 Million annually to support faculty and researchers, practitioners and patients, and students and programs across the University. Our work supports priorities in every division, school, department, and institute.

The ARD People and Culture team plays a crucial role in cultivating a supportive and thriving workplace environment. Job Summary
 

As the Department’s primary recruiter and in preparation for a new major campaign, this role provides expertise and support to teams and managers division-wide, driving talent acquisition to enable ARD to meet fundraising and engagement goals. The Recruiter identifies and develops applicant sources for a wide variety of positions, and guides and coaches hiring managers through the interview and selection process. To continue to enhance ARD’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) efforts, the recruiter provides guidance on introducing development opportunities to broad groups of potential candidates.

This role develops and implements talent acquisition activities including sourcing, recruiting, screening, interviewing and recommendations external and/or internal candidates for all level jobs. Maintains records of all phases of the recruitment process, including EEO statistics. Places employment ads and may utilize the services of employment agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Works with hiring managers and their administrative staff to support the hiring lifecycle — developing job descriptions, sourcing candidates, reviewing applications, conducting phone screens, participating in interviews, checking references, and making salary offers. 
  • Implements outreach efforts to attract diverse candidates through job boards, social media, 1:1 conversation, networking, and involvement in industry professional organizations and events.
  • Develops a network of contacts at the University to identify and source qualified internal candidates. Networks throughout the University and its affiliated organizations with employees and employee groups.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of university priorities and programs. Partners with managers to collect and share informational or marketing materials to share with prospective candidates.
  • Serves as HR partner by managing processes within the Workday recruitment and hiring lifecycle.
  • Partners with relevant teams across ARD and central HR including but not limited to Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Workday Solutions, and Shared Services.
  • Provides consultation to and advises hiring units to ensure University policies and procedures are applied appropriately.
  • Committed to enriching the work environment for all staff by promoting and supporting a culture of inclusion, diversity, equity, engagement, and accountability.
  • Seeks opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance, including building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions and with an eye towards broadly diversifying the advancement profession.​
  • Guides units on staff recruiting, including, prescreening resumes, advising on advertising methods, interviewing candidates, checking references, and advising on salaries. Schedules clerical testing when requested by units.
  • Communicates University policies, employment issues, and procedures to hiring managers through routine meetings and workshops. With minimal guidance, conducts training with units and newly hired human resources employees on employment processes, procedures, and issues. Provides consultation to and advises hiring units to ensure University policies and procedures are applied appropriately.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.


Certifications:

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, including the University's donor relationship management system and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with project management and task tracking tools.

Working Conditions

  • This position has a hybrid work schedule which includes weekly in office presence.
  • Standard office environment.
  • Travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business.
  • Work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • This position is located in Hyde Park at 5235 South Harper Court.
