What you will be doing (role of the position)

  • Oversee and manage the administration, direction, and review of the university’s health & welfare, voluntary, and retirement benefit plans, and leave programs for active and retired employees.
  • Analyze and make recommendations with respect to the wellness needs of our employees, ensuring the benefits programs and wellness initiatives support the diverse needs of faculty and staff.
  • Develop and execute communication and educational strategies and programs to foster employee understanding, better consumerism, and appreciation of the value of all benefit programs.
  • Collaborate with and manage relationships with external partners including state agencies and the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE).
  • Lead, develop and monitor staff to ensure they provide consistent support and expert advice to employees, retirees, and external partners. 
  • Oversee the Temp Hiring & HCM Support unit responsible for processing and triaging various HCM (Workday) transactions related to temporary faculty and staff.
  • Champion customer service, drive workflow process improvement, and effective use of technology. 

What you will bring (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • 5+ years’ experience directly overseeing benefits administration 
  • 5+ years’ experience leading and managing a team
  • 10+ years’ relevant and progressive HR experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to collaborate, influence and establish trust.
  • Strong organizational skills; evidence of self-motivation; demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and work both independently and in teams within a service-oriented organization.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects and competing priorities while balancing the need for quality with meeting deadlines.

  • Master’s degree
  • Professional Certification (CEBS, PHR, SPHR, CCP, SHRM-SCP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of state of Nevada administrative code
  •  Knowledge of Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) code
  • NSHE or university experience
  • Experience with Workday HCM

This position is in Las Vegas, NV and has a hybrid on-campus/remote work schedule.

SALARY RANGE

The salary range for this position is $105,000 – $120,000 annually, or commensurate with the labor market.
