Job Description

The Nevada Small Business Development Center (Nevada SBDC) at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is seeking a Statewide Client Coordinator. The Statewide Client Coordinator supports the management and operations of the statewide services of the Nevada Small Business Development Center (Nevada SBDC) at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). The position supervises statewide client coordination by managing client intake processes, providing basic counseling services, implementing client follow-up processes, and internal coordinating of accounts payable and accounts receivable. The Client Coordinator reports to the Nevada SBDC State Director.

This position is responsible for tracking client intake data as well as aggregating client data from statewide and national client surveys as mandated by ASBDC accreditation requirements. This positon works with the Nevada SBDC intern team to train them on intake processes to ensure continuity of client services. This position supports the operations of the Nevada SBDC through workday financial roles including travel reimbursements, accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks. This positon works with 15 Nevada SBDC centers across the state to ensure client satisfaction and compliance. The client coordinator provides detailed client data tracking and reporting for federal and local partners.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Client Counseling Services

  • Disseminate basic start-up and other business information to Nevada SBDC counseling and training clients, which includes:

  • Business start-up requirements and procedures

  • Business resources

  • Marketing options

  • Financing options and sources

  • Components of a business plan

  • Basic accounting and bookkeeping procedures, tools, and resources

  • Types of legal entities

  • Business taxes and licensing requirements for state and local governments. Disseminate follow-up information, from other advisors and own knowledge and research, for Nevada SBDC counseling and training clients

  • Develop tools to support inquiries from entrepreneurs and business owners.  Assess inquiries for handling or internal referral

  • Work with Nevada SBDC counselors and training staff statewide to ensure extended, direct, timely, and relevant follow-up with clients

  • Explain the array of services available to clients who phone or visit the Nevada SBDC office, to thousands of clients annually.

Manage Client Intake Process

  • Assess and understand needs of Nevada SBDC counseling and training clients and match with correct SBDC resource and advisor.

  • Create, manage and improve statewide Nevada SBDC intake process for statewide centers

  • Oversee students and staff in initial intake process with Nevada SBDC counseling and training clients and clients of partner agencies, i.e., U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Service Corps of Retired Executive (SCORE), small business owners and entrepreneurs, etc.

Data Management

  • Disseminate and aggregate national and statewide client surveys as required by ASBDC accreditation and federal funding mandates

  • Manage and coordinate client data in the Neoserra client software management system for quarterly reporting as federally mandated

  • Create client economic data reports for federal and local partners for federal economic milestone requirements (statewide capital formation, jobs created, jobs supported and business starts). 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) years of related work experience; OR a Master’s degree and No experience required.

Related Professional Experience: Small business experience as entrepreneur or supporting entrepreneurs, Database experience and Effective communication experience (written, in-person, and remote) or related.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
