The Keck School of Medicine of USC’s Department of Population and Public Health Sciences is looking for two new Budget/Business Analysts to join the central finance team, managing over $15 million in operational expenses, for six departmental divisions, more than 100 faculty, 200+ staff, and over 500 students—together on a mission to achieve health equity for all people.

As a Budget/Business Analyst, you will lead the procurement process (purchasing, payments, reimbursements, and receivables), and inform decisions with financial analysis (reporting, reconciliations, projections, accounting adjustments and budget amendments) as part of the central finance team for the entire department.
Accountabilities:
- Administer the procurement process, initiating corporate card transactions, requisitions, purchase orders, and change orders.
- Onboard new suppliers and manage existing contracts,
- Submit internal service delivery requisitions to procure university products and services,
- Secure outsourced professional and creative service agreements,
- Work with human resources to secure independent contractors,
- Request temporary staffing, if needed.
- Send payments to accounts payable, request supplier invoices, ad hoc employee/student payments, and limited engagement payees, such as honorariums for guest lecture speakers.
- Process travel and non-travel reimbursements as delegates for faculty, staff, and students.
- Allocate accounts receivable incoming deposits, ad hoc bank transactions, checks, and wire transfers.
- Run financial reports in Workday by fiscal year and month for operational program accounts, internally awarded projects, and faculty discretionary gift accounts.
- Prepare report reconciliations by assessing the budget to available balance ratio, checking for inaccuracies in salary allocations, analyzing the accuracy of expenses on the account, and ensuring appropriate ledger, spend category, and business purposes.
- Forecast projections of proposed income and planned expenses for salary and benefits, staff and student hires, materials and supplies, travel, services, stipends, and reimbursements, among other expenses.
- Create payroll and accounting adjustments to correct salary allocations and other expenses.
- Submit budget amendments from the department to the Keck School of Medicine to deposit negotiated and/or contracted fiscal year funds, rollover year-end funding at the approval of the department Chair and correct any misallocated budget entries.
- Other related responsibilities may be assigned, upon department necessity.

The hourly rate range for this position is $34.92 – $36.00. Minimum Field of Expertise:
Business administration, accounting or related degree and budget experience including
knowledge of government and fund accounting. Strong computer skills with use of
automated spreadsheets.

Prefer university budget experience and knowledge of university financial systems.
