Job Overview

USC Radio Group is searching for a Budget Business Technician. If you are looking for a diverse and creative environment, this is the right home for you. This position will work as a supporting role in the USC Radio Group finance team. This role is fundamental to the USC Radio Group finance team. S/he will assist on processing payments in a timely manner and perform other accounting, administrative and bookkeeping duties. S/he will execute the necessary bookkeeping tasks such as data entry and recording donations in the account receivables system. Other functions include processing and monitoring income payments, securing revenue by coding and posting receipts accurately.

Responsibilities and Duties

The major responsibilities and duties of this job include:

Accounts Receivable:

  • Process accounts and incoming payments (checks and wires) in compliance with the university standards
  • Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, coding and posting account receivables’ data
  • Prepare monthly Underwriting/Sponsorship invoices
  • Verify discrepancies by and resolve clients’ billing issues
  • Facilitate payment of invoices due by communicating with clients on a regular basis
  • Generate monthly financial reports detailing receivable status

Accounts Payable:

  • Input requisitions for purchase orders/contracts
  • Review purchase orders, statements, and invoices to verify amount owed
  • Ensure that all invoices and purchase orders are processed on a timely manner
  • Responds to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies in billings and payments
  • Tracks expenses, processes expense/travel reports
  • Perform periodic audits of purchase orders
  • Produce financial reports as needed

Skills and Qualifications

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in accounting (or relevant subject). Education can be substituted with relevant work experience
  • Minimum of one (2) year experience in non-profit, higher education, public media, or related field.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and work ethic
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Display a respect for confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Proficiency in Workday Financial and Marketron (preferred)

Minimum Education: High school or equivalent, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 2 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related office financial experience to provide a knowledge of accounts payable, income and expense accounting and reconcilement, and budget preparation.
