Finance Coordinator

USC Marshall School of Business

Finance and Business Economics Department

The FBE Department, USC Marshall School of Business seeks a FC to support the faculty, staff, and students.  The FC is responsible for administering and reconciling the department’s budgetary activities monthly, assist with budget preparations, gathering and tracking pertinent information for meetings, review and process reimbursements, purchase orders, Independent Contractors Agreement, payment of membership dues, hiring student workers.

 Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversees and tracks budget; reconciles accounts; prepares monthly financial reports, processes purchase orders, reimbursements, check requests, and deposits; performs other financial related functions for the department 

  • Point of contact for department financial accounts, budget planning, forecasting, vendors and purchasing.

  • Performs administrative duties associated with executing and ensuring completion of special projects and data collection for the department 

  • Coordinates purchasing activities and interfaces with vendors

  • Processes paperwork for all student hires and student payroll on behalf of the department and its faculty

  • Serves as an internal resource for contracts and grants inquiries 

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience and familiarity working with budgets and financial documents 

  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and plan for potential expenses that may impact the department budget.

  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability in setting and meeting deadlines and attention to details.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of USC Financial processes, year-end closing, using multiple financial systems for budgeting, forecasting, and fiscal year close. (Ex: Workday, Salesforce, Concur, Excel etc.) and university reimbursement policies.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook, Teams and Zoom

  • Ability to follow through with assigned tasks within established timeframes and with minimal supervision, exceptional focus on attention to detail and accuracy 

  • Strong skills in customer service, problem solving written and oral communication.

  • Strong knowledge of Workday and able to quickly pick up new task and resourceful with available information.

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing priorities and fluctuating workloads

  • Experience in a higher education environment, preferably in business, experience interacting and communicating with senior administration and faculty

Anticipated Hiring Range:

$32.60 – $39.63 ($63,570.00 – $77,278.00)

This range is determined using internal/external compensation data points for similar roles in our industry. We evaluate the candidate’s experience, education, and unique assets they bring to the job.  In addition, we look at equity across Marshall.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 2 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. Two years’ experience in a professional finance environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated experience managing heavy calendars and coordinating travel. Familiarity with filing system maintenance.
