The Dornsife Business Office is seeking a Financial Analyst to join its team. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for financial modeling, reporting, analysis, budget and forecasting, data analysis and problem solving. The analyst will perform extensive data reconciliation, consolidation, and analysis for large quantities of data to create financial reports.

The specific accountabilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists with monitoring school-wide activity as well as forecasting and projections (financials, academics, space, and research).
  • Provides internal financial consulting by identifying problems, trends and evaluates solutions to support key decision making.
  • Develops reports and presentations of complex financial data and metrics to support leadership. Interpolate results from larger amount of data, perform root cause analysis and propose solutions.
  • Participates as a member of a project team and supports new initiatives; makes decisions. determining approach to managing and completing processes.
  • Evaluates and analyzes reports and data; develops conclusions and provides recommendations; prepares briefings and presentation materials as needed.
  • Reconciles data from multiple sources.
  • Liaison with programmers and departments to build reports and applications.
  • Contribute to unit and organization strategy; assist in the development of change management plans and materials as needed.
  • Engage in continuous critical analysis of existing systems and processes, and make recommendations to achieve greater efficiencies and improve internal controls. Define requirements, develop and implement complex test cases, perform testing and analyze results, and design and communicate processes for campus users of new systems.
  • May supervise, train, coach, and review the work of other staff, as needed. Contribute primarily through applying individual expertise.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Master’s degree with at least five years of experience in a university environment with knowledge of university systems and procedures. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel (pivot tables and charts, formulas, data validation) and PowerPoint. Experience with Workday Financial Reporting, Tableau, and related data analytics tools. Other skills include:

  • Strong analytical and problem identification and resolution skills
  • Strong organizational, collaborative and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Prior experience in financial and budget reporting in a university setting.
  • Consulting experience highly desirable
  • Ability to follow through with assigned tasks within established time-frames and with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
  • Exceptional focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of government and fund accounting, database, data analytics and university financial systems.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $90,000 annual salary – will be commensurate with skills and experience.
