The Wireless Networking and Communications Group (WNCG) is an Organized Research Unit and interdisciplinary center for research and education with an emphasis on industrial relevance, with more than 200 graduate students and 28 faculty. The center is located within the Chandra Family Department of Electrical Computer Engineering (Texas ECE), a top-ranked department and the largest department in the Cockrell School of Engineering. WNCG works closely in conjunction with Texas ECE.Â

Purpose
Provide human resources support, travel reimbursement processing, and related assistance for the Wireless Networking and Communications Group, a large, high-functioning, multi-million-dollar research center.
Responsibilities
-
Coordinate high-volume, complex center HR support throughout research personnel life cycle. Engage with diverse stakeholders and exercise regular problem solving. Initiate and manage Workday processing for center appointments, including but not limited to graduate and undergraduate research assistants, research staff, visiting research scholars and affiliates, visiting students, and volunteers. Support graduate student employees and research staff with requests related to employment, connecting them with appropriate offices and resources.

Collaborate with Texas ECE HR coordinator to ensure all center timesheets are completed by deadline. Arrange for payouts upon center employee separation. Perform regular reviews of Workday reports in support of mass processing.

Provide support and collaborate with center team, Texas ECE HR coordinator and Graduate Office, related departments, Cockrell School of Engineering, Graduate School, HRSC, Texas Global, and related offices for Workday and HR-related issues, projects, and troubleshooting. Act as a backup to center Financial Analyst in processing costing allocations, faculty summer appointments, and tuition bill processing. Function as center expert on HR policies. Attend relevant training to maintain knowledge.

Manage work authorizations for center research employees, exercising diplomacy and confidentiality. Collaborate with Texas Global for federal submissions to USCiS of individual cases, such as research staff and visiting research scholars. Process related fee payments. Provide supporting documents upon request for extensions, travel visas, etc.

Facilitate center authorizations and reimbursements related to travel and entertainment. Provide guidance on university procedure based on funding type, employee, and location requirements. Assist center members with conference registration payments and centrally billed travel. Coordinate center event travel and lodging. Function as center expert on travel and entertainment policies. Attend relevant training to maintain knowledge.

Help maintain center rosters and instructional guides for administrative and related processes.

Provide support for center events.

Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant human resources experience.

At least two years working in a public-facing customer service role.

Demonstrated resiliency and integrity working within a diverse environment.Â

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Workday HR processes.
Salary Range
$53,000 + depending on qualifications
