Job Description
The Sr. Director of Workday Practice is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end management and optimization of Workday solutions across the organization. This individual will lead a team of functional and technical experts, ensuring the successful maintenance and continuous improvement of the Workday HCM (Human Capital Management), Financial Management, and other related modules. The Sr. Director will be the strategic thought leader for all Workday-related initiatives, driving alignment between business objectives, HR, and IT teams and delivering effective and efficient solutions that enhance operational efficiency for USACS. This role requires deep knowledge of the Workday platform, hands-on experience with Workday implementations and ongoing system management, and a strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. The Sr. Director will play a critical role in developing best practices for Workday utilization, ensuring system integrity, and driving the evolution of Workday as a strategic asset for the organization.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and manage the internal Workday practice, including both functional and technical teams, ensuring a high level of expertise and accountability.
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for Workday solutions, developing and aligning a roadmap with organizational priorities and business needs.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on Workday-related initiatives, providing insight on best practices, system enhancements, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Drive continuous innovation in Workday adoption, exploring new modules and features that support business goals.
Workday Implementation & Optimization
- Oversee and manage Workday implementation projects, upgrades, and enhancements, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
- Work closely with HR, Finance, IT, and other departments to ensure Workday solutions are configured to meet business needs and support operational efficiency.
- Manage the lifecycle of Workday system enhancements, ensuring smooth transitions, minimal disruptions, and maximum user adoption.
- Lead change management efforts related to new Workday features, upgrades, and ongoing training, ensuring all stakeholders are well-prepared for system changes.
Team Development & Management
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Workday functional and technical experts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
- Promote best practices within the team, setting Workday configuration, testing, and deployment standards.
- Manage team performance through regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews to ensure the team meets organizational goals and objectives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with business leaders, ensuring that Workday solutions align with the broader business strategy.
- Partner with the IT infrastructure team to ensure seamless and efficient Workday integrations and interfaces with other enterprise systems (e.g., payroll, benefits, talent management, data warehouse).
- Work closely with the HRIS team to maintain Workday data governance, reporting, and analytics standards.
Continuous Improvement & Governance
- Establish and enforce governance processes for Workday configuration, change management, and system upgrades to ensure consistency, data integrity, and compliance.
- Regularly assess and optimize Workday processes, recommending improvements or new functionalities to enhance user experience and system capabilities.
- Ensure that Workday security, user roles, and access controls are managed according to best practices and organizational policies.
Education and Support
- Develop and deliver training programs, user guides, and education materials to support end-users in understanding new system enhancements, workflows, and solutions.
- Serve as a user resource by offering ongoing education and support and gathering feedback to identify areas for further training or system improvement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Expertise in Workday modules (HCM, Finance, Payroll, Compensation, Absence Management, Talent, Analytics, Planning, Extend, etc.).
- Strong project management skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams and multiple concurrent projects.
- Trusted business partner with leadership team able to quickly develop and maintain relationships.
- Deep understanding of HR processes and workflows and how they map to Workday functionality.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering data-driven, scalable solutions.
- Strategic thinker with a business-focused mindset, capable of balancing long-term goals with day-to-day operational needs.
- Results-driven, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and drive projects to completion.
- High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data security.
- Excellent communication skills, providing verbal and written communication with senior management as well as other stakeholders
- Strong change management, training, and communication skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Â
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in Workday HCM or Financials, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing Workday teams or large-scale Workday implementations.
- Proven track record of successful end-to-end Workday implementations and ongoing support in large or complex organizations.
- Strong experience working with partners and consultants to augment projects.
- Strong experience with Workday integration, payroll, reporting, and analytics tools.
- Workday HCM and/or Workday Financials certification(s) a plus.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification preferred a plus.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods and occasionally walk, stand, bend, stoop, and lift 15 pounds.Â
- Required to have close visual acuity to perform the job.
Salary Range:
$137,394.00 – $254,179.00
Salary may be determined on several factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience, education, geographical location and requirements stated in job description.
